THIS PLACE IS HORRENDOUS
By ,
First I will say the few things that i DID like about this place: the majority of the staff was extremely friendly!(minus the front desk), the food was about what I would have expected from a non-luxury all-inclusive. Although it was on the harbor it was just a short walk to Cabbage Beach and close to Atlantis. Now for my list of negatives: 1. All-inclusive should be just as it sounds, except this place was not. Yes food and drinks were included, but bottled water cost $2! We were forced to go out and purchase water bottles from the store. There were also a bunch of local school field trips (?) and each time we tried to get food from the buffet the lines were so long because of them that we had to go out to eat more than we had planned. 2. The sink, shower, and toilet water STUNK!!! This was the absolute worst part of the trip. The water would smell of sulfur on and off throughout the day. I had no choice but to shower in the water and brush my teeth with it until we got water bottles. The water made our whole room stink. 3. When we arrived, the safe in our room did not have batteries, and you could literally pull it out of the wall and walk away with it if you wanted to. There were light bulbs missing from the lamps, the volume and channel buttons were smashed in on our TV and the TV did not work for our entire stay. 4. There were two identical pictures hanging in the room so it was pretty easy to tell that the black marks inside one of the frames was black mold... nice. Also, the packets of coffee in the room were covered in mold. 5. There was a leak in my ceiling that the front desk decided not to investigate. 6. We were placed on a smoking floor (we are not smokers) and our room smelled disgusting the entire time. I have never written a review in my life. This place is AWFUL. Every day there was a different issue. I HIGHLY recommend that you choose another place to stay while visiting the Bahamas. I am not a picky person but this resort (if you can even call it that) caused much unnecessary stress when I planned this vacation in hopes of relaxation. You've been warned.

Great VALUE for your money!
Pros: All inclusive-great food and tropical drinks Friendly staff Relaxed atomsphere Close to Atlantis Casino Nice pool area Cons: Bayside not ocean front (for ocean lovers) Rooms/Hotel adequate-need some sprucing up Need more lounge chairs (many needed repair) Glad we gave it a try,Great value/low cost.....but if your used to 5 star places it's not for you! I would go again.

More (-) than (+) for sure.

It don't take much to make me happy; give me a beach, a book and a drink and I'm good but this hotel was seriously lacking on all fronts. The first impression you get when you walk in the lobby is that it's dark and musty. The rooms look okay but are on par with a Motel for cleanliness and the water is indeed brown. Our toilet rocked and the toilet paper holder was hanging off the wall. At $200+ a night, seriously? We found the staff to be quite nice and while the food selection was very, very limited it was absolutely tasty. The pool area was beautiful (only 5ft. deep) but the beach was lackluster to say the least; it was small, dirty and corralled in with a wooden walkway blocking the view of the harbor - even though it was an industrial one. The worst part about the hotel was the non-stop harassment from the time share/vacation salespeople. Their office was right next to the entrance to the dining room and the exit to the pool and across from the bar so you couldn't go to any of the three without being constantly solicited and they wouldn't take "no" for an answer. I would definitely not stay at this hotel again - there are other ones on the island in the same price range that are far better like the RIU or Comfort Suites. I didn't find out until it was too late but staying at the Comfort Suites gives you free access to Atlantis. FYI, they are doing construction right next to the Harbor Resort on the beach side of the hotel so expect a noisy vacation if you stay here.

almost horrible
By ,
like...the food was okay, had a good view, and our daughters loved the ocean. dislike...found out feb-june is grad week so there were a ton of students/grads there that no one really got to use the pool or was near them. it took average 45 minutes to get a cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, hotdog, and philly steak. some of the lights and ceiling looked like they were falling out, food not too kid friendly and not really tasty but on some things, game system didn't work, they mention lots of activites for guests, they had 2 full snorlingh sets and 1/2 a snorkel set, kids room looked like a daycare that was clsoed 1/2 the time and that is where you get your snorkels from, some of the staff was rude, the elvators were stuck alot because of more than 8 (grads) in at a time, does not look like they did any renovations, pricy place in general to do anything that we stayed at the beach most of the time ($150/person to touch dolphins!) beach at riu was nicer and more fun but the one at paradise harbor was perfect for kids, most of the staff was nice but few were rude, they had good dance shows in the lobby, we wen't for family vacation and anniversary and wanted tor enew vows but it was too much to renew, it was $1300 to renew ($1500 to get married and some places when called around on other islands renewed vows for $ 150 but were booked) if you're rich, might have fun, if your on a budget, not fun. my husband said it hcanged so much that he, like the rest of us was ready to leave on the 3rd day. we bothe said we are never going back cause too costly and the hotel was horrible. oh and the ceiling in some places leaked

Good hotel for the price
By ,
After reading all of the bad reviews online, I was actually kind of dreading our stay. But the place is much better than I anticipated. The staff was very friendly and gave us a double upgrade to a waterview room with a balcony. The building is older (built in 1968) but it was clean and well maintained. The rooms have tile floors, but ours was reasonably clean. The food was good and plentiful, and the alcoholic beverages were very good. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from all of the shops and activities at Atlantis. There is a police station about a block away and the area seemed very safe. You can also catch the water taxi to downtown Nassau very close to the property. We were pleasantly surprised. There are a few downsides, but they are very minor. The swimming pool is not heated and was very cold when we were there. Perhaps it is not so bad later in the Summer. The hotel beach area is small and the bottom can be rocky or kind of mucky. But there is an amazing ocean beach about 5 minutes away, and if you have kids they are not going to mind. All in all I found this hotel to be a good value for the money (where are you going to get a deal like this for the price in Nassau?) and would definitely stay there again.

never again terrible place!
By ,
old rusty dirty smelly place in great need of refurbishing and painting, you name this hotel needs it, owners should be ashamed! We loved the islands though and Dolphin Encounters are a must see now that place IS beautiful! We are no snobs by any means but come on get a grip PIHR cos you really are on a good spot for vacators to visit other places of intersest. We will never go or recommend this place to anybody until we see it has been done up to it's proper potential. Could also have balconies all the way round which would be great for all who visit.

Would Not Choose This One Again!!!
By ,
I noticed there aren't many recent reviews of this hotel, so I feel the need to add mine. The hotel is old and in dire need of major renovation. The lobby is just ok; the main dining room needs fresh paint and there is rust around the windows, etc. Food was mediocre. Didn't make reservations at the other restaurant because the menu didn't peak my interest. Moving to the rooms, TERRIBLE! There is rust around all fixtures, mold/mildew around shower/tub areas. The ceiling was water stained. The tile floor had not been mopped in quite some time. Linens were thin and outdated. The door to the balcony was warped and difficult to close. I was told the hotel has been in bankruptcy for some time, so that explains a lot. The grounds outside were okay. Would not recommend this hotel.

would go back next year, had a great time.
By ,
I was concerned after the negative reviews, but got a nice, clean and quiet room. Food, drinks and staff were great not to mention the activites at the hotel. Free bicycle rental, walking tour etc. We had no problems whatsoever and had a great time there. Pool was clean, beach was fine too. We walked to Cabbage beach which was gorgeous but a little scary for swimming, with no lifeguards. Traveled with a family with teenager up to senior citizens and eveyone had a good time.

Be very careful!
By ,
This hotel looks much better on the website than in person. The rooms have not been remodeled in a very long time. Mold and mildew is everywhere. Most of our stay, only one elevator worked. Staff is pleasant and helpful, but none of the suggestions are taken into consideration. Kids club is lame, although the activities staff try hard. Food is ok, but plentiful. Great spot for college age kids coming for value, not so good for the sophisticated traveler.
