Very Clean rooms, Lower rates, Friendly Manager.
By keving, 8/23/08
This is a very Clean and newly rooms,Nice landscaping with Gazebos, Its Only 20 minutes or 14 miles to Cooperstown.Rates are less than 50% compare to Recommendation we were given by Cooperstown chamber of commerce .Chamber Lady Recommended us a hotel with rate of $265/night which was very high, its highway roberry by chambers and their members hotels.will not advise to go to chamber for rooms. We did not wanted to spend more than $100. Budget Inn is only a few minutes drive, Manger is Very Helpful and accommodating. He gave us all kind of direction helps to Eateries. This is we calls a service. We have Read all other comments on internet some positiove and some negative,we found not to be true as negatives comments we read .In our 5 nights stay we had nothing but Positive experiences, its seems Negative posters may be Bias or inspired by their Lodging Business neighbors damaging this hotels reputation ????? Hey I did not paid too much. This hotel should be charging atleaset 30% More for this kind of nice room.. Our advise , Please Have a open mind and check them out and compare what you pay and what you are getting ? Howmuch one should be paying for Just to have Iron, hairdyer in room? , is it $250 or more? I could buy everything with money I saved here and it will be mine to keep. we will comeback here, and will advise any one to stay here, they are very friendly and accommodating and Affordable.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/07
We are glad we stayed here with my 3 children, Very quite, Peaceful Safe place. Room was just renovated in less than 7days ago and it still smell fresh paint. It was Spotlessly Clean, beds were Nice comfortable. Our Rate was Very reasonable saved$495 for 1-week stay. Manager is Very friendly and helpful and accommodating. Will recommend any one to try their newly renovated rooms.

never again
By Kathy C, 10/7/06
Although the room looked "quaint" with the hand stenciling, the walls were dirty, and the room had an overpowering musty smell. The bed was uncomfortable, and we had concerns about it's history. Although the manager advised us that the hot water heater was only 3 months old, we never got hot water, or even warm water for that matter. We ran the water for 20 minutes, hoping it would become warm at some point. It never did. We decided not to spend another night there, and checked out after advising the manager of the issues with the room. He was not helpful or interested in the issues we had. And he advised us that we should have ran the water for awhile in order to get hot water. All in all, this hotel has the feeling of an establishment rented by the hour---

Do not recommend this place at all
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/06
The place looks like a dump from the outside. They are quite a distance from Cooperstown. Bathrooms are very outdated and the cleanliness was so-so. A lot of dust on the drapes and under radiators. We had no tissues and no clock in the room. Pillows were terrible. The shower stall and bathroom appear to be from the 1940s or 1950s. It was so out of town, that there was no cell phone reception and as far as broadband connection, there was none whatsoever. Be sure to check emails if you book here, because they are supposed to send confirmation email right away and it took over a day to get. The only good thing was that the sheets/towels were clean and I could tell they were laundered with bleach from the smell.

Never Stay Here
By Adam, 9/21/05
I say this with no amount of exaggeration whatsoever: staying at this place was the WORST experience I have ever had with a hotel in my entire life. I came to Sharon Springs to attend a college reunion in nearby Cobbleskill. From the day I reserved my room I should have known not to stay here. The man who took my reservation was incredibly rude and intrusive. He wanted to know every detail of my stay from where I’d be traveling to whether I was there to visit friends or family or for business. He would not take: “it’s none of your business” for an answer. I was running late the night of my arrival and called ahead at around 8:30 to make arrangements for a late arrival and was told that the desk clerk (who is also manager and owner apparently) would be leaving for the night and he would not be able to accommodate me unless I arrived before 9:00. He would also be charging me a $150 “no-show” fee (the cost of my 2 night stay)! There was no mention at the time of my reservation that arrangements would not be made if I arrived after 9:00 or that there was any time at which the hotel “closed”. I was told had I put my reservation on a Discover or Amex instead of a MasterCard he would be able to accommodate me but alas, I had used the wrong card. I finally called a friend who was also staying at this hotel (and had his own terrible experience) to go down and check in on my behalf, which he generously did. When I arrived I found a smelly, dirty room with a broken lock, no A.C., no phone, no hot water, no towels and signs everywhere along the lines of: “we have recorded your license plate number and will report any thefts to the police”, like there was anything worth taking. The next day I complained about the hot water and was told: “when someone else showers there’s no hot water” although there was NEVER hot water. I complained about the A.C. and was told: “I gave you a room with a stove and refrigerator for no extra charge”, which I did not ask for and did not use (but I would have used the A.C.). This room, by the way, had a stove in it but no fire extinguisher (although there was a holder for it on the wall) and a smoke alarm with no battery. Budget Inn seems to greatly value the safety of their guests. Whatever you do DO NOT stay in this hotel. You’re better off sleeping in your car or on the street. If this hotel were an apartment building we would call the owner a slumlord and the city would shut it down.
