breakfast was good, staff had little interest in talking with guest, rooms were clean but small
Location was near ferry but limited other resources. looked like industial site but was ok for one night due to cost. beds were hard, no tv or phone that worked.
can only say that it was a once in a life experience that I would not repeat again.
We have visited many hotels in Amsterdam, but never have we visited a hotel wich is so poor as this Amstel Botel.
The staff is not very friendly, the rooms are very very small, old and dirty,
even the tv and the phone didn't work at all.
We had many drunk tourists shouting all night.
Because all of this we have left this terrible hotel in the night!
Just wish it hadn't moved across the river. It is still near the Central Station but there is a ten minute Ferry Ride which isn't bad. The room and the service was great. I would recommend this place to anyone. The food was also great!
The location of this hotel is perfect for those who want to dump their bags and hit the town. You can walk from the train station to the hotel in about 3 minutes, it is literally right there. No need to get a tram or taxi or lug your bags into the city. Plus, it's always easy to remember your way back because it sits just on the edge of the city by the train station, you will never get lost coming home after a long night out on the town drinking, smoking, or both. The hotel itself is pretty basic, the rooms are somewhat small considering that it is a boat and there's only so much room. However the staff is cordial, the services are good and the price is right. I've stayed there 3 times and basically only went to my room to sleep and shower. There's so much to do in the city, I see no reason to stay in your hotel for anything other than that. A canal-side view room is recommended, a little more $$, but definitely worth it.
