Totally Worth It
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/09
If you are looking for something clean, luxurious and quiet within close walking distance to Times Sq, then you'll love the Sofitel NYC. When it comes to hotels, I am extremely particular about cleanliness. This hotel room did not dissappoint. It was immaculate. The bed was wonderful. Hands down, the most comfy hotel bed I've ever slept in. The staff was friendly & the concierge very helpful. The room was a little small, but the bathroom was huge. My only negative comment would be that the french bathroom doors had a gap between them and didn't lock so there wasn't much privacy. Overall, a great experience - I think it was worth the money.

We LOVED the Sofitel !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/08
Sofitel is a beautiful hotel in a very central location on W. 44th Street. It is walking distance to Times Square (about 3 blocks), to Rockefeller Center,Bryant Park,5th Ave and close to the subway. The staff was excellent, very friendly and always helpful. Our room was beautiful, very quiet and had a nice view on the 17th floor. Ask for the highest floor possible. The lower floors don't have much of a view. The bathroom was very nice, mostly marble and had a separate shower, with a candle and fresh flower. Housekeeping kept everything very clean and they even have turn down service with free bottled Avian water at night. The bed was almost too comfortable. The heavy duvet was too warm at night. The only complaint I have is that there was no top sheet to use in place of the duvet. The concierge knows everything about New York and was eager to help and very friendly. The doormen were always friendly and opening doors when we came and went. Drinks at the restaurant bar were good (but expensive). Order the hummus as an appetizer. It was awesome! We just LOVED the Sofitel and will definitely stay there on our next visit to New York. **Tip- If you want to avoid the expensive breakfasts at the hotel restaurant, there is a diner very close to the hotel called the Red Flame. The food is great, inexpensive, and the service is excellent. We ate breakfast there all 4 days while visiting. As you exit the hotel, take a right and the Red Flame is just a short distance down the street on the right.

We Will Return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/07
Fab location althou to eat in pricey just down the road about 50 yards is THE RED FLAME excellent value for money. also there is a shop named Jacks Place the bottled water very cheap 90$ for a litre. Staff were so friendly and very helpful, there was a noise that was most annoying there was building work going on next door I am sure when this is complete this will be one of the best places tostay for comfort. Hopefully we will book for next year Liz Manning England

Everything you expect!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/9/07
It was the second time a friend and I stayed in New York, and the decision to stay in which hotel is never easy to make. And the Sofitel New York didn't make it easier for the next time! You would not easily find a hotel with nice rooms, great beds, and a complete bathroom with separate bath and shower, and all those little things that make you feel special. The people at the check-in, the concierge, the doormen, everybody was so friendly and helpful! All the things you want to see in New York are practically around the corner! And on top of it: I left some things at the hotelroom, called the hotel, and despite of the struggle with the language, I was called back immediately with the message my things were found and they would send it to me asap. I have never experienced a greater service! Thank you, all the nice people who work at the Sofitel to make my stay unforgettable, and as far as I'm concerned... it wasn't the last time!

Great location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/1/07
Great location 2 mins walk to Times Square and 5th ave. Staff/ Concierge great and very helpful. In room bar very pricey, $6 for a can of bud, $6 for a miniiature vodka, $2.30 for a bottle of water. I wanted a 4pm checkout and was told I would be charged a half day room rate, these negatives won't put me off staying there again though. Great little place for breakfast if you turn right out the front door and walk 100 yards. Great bed and pillows. Ask for a room high up when you can see the Manhatten sky line, awesome at night. Never used the restaurant loads of eating places close by so can't comment, tell the concierge what type of reataurant you want to eat at he will give you great suggestions and will reserve it for you also.
