Exactly what I was looking for
By Ronald, 7/9/08
My wife, twin boys, dog, and I all had a great stay with this Days Inn hotel. They were kind enough to upgrade us to a business class suite so that the cribs that they provided for each of my boys would have enough space. The room was huge and they even allowed the pooch for another ten bucks. I sleep on a Kings Down bed at home, so needless to say the bed was sub-par, and I really didn't sleep that well. I felt the springs thru the mattress, but that's not the end of the world for me. The room was clean enough that I let my kids crawl around on the floor. Shower was great, AC was cold. I stayed twice, three days apart from each stay, both times were nice. The continental breakfast was good as well, simple, but good. (good coffee!) The hotel is right off Rt.81N from rt.78, so it's a quick jump off the highway, and centrally located to fast food, Dairy Queen, and service stations, in a generally nice suburban like area. HIGHLY recommended for a quick stop thru stayover on your next voyage on the road.

Disappointing Accommodations, Uncaring Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/07
I specifically booked our stay at the Days Inn Lickdale because of good online reviews and the jacuzzi they feature prominently on their website. Problem 1: They gave us a smoking room when we had reserved a "King Suite" non-smoking room. When I asked to have our room changed they said they'd put us in the smoking room because there was a power failure in the room we'd reserved. They said they'd "cleaned" the smoking room. I wasn't going to buy that. They said they could only give us a "Twin Double" non-smoking room. I was okay with that. Problem 2: My companion noticed that the smoking "King Suite" had had a complementary bag of microwave popcorn, and our new room didn't. The hotel staff said that only was provided in the "King Suites", and no, they couldn't give us one now we were in the "Twin Double". Oh but we weren't due a discount on our room despite the downgrade. They said it had to do with the fact I'd booked online. Problem 3: Later that evening I called from the room about the hours for the jacuzzi. I was told the jacuzzi wasn't in service. That was a major disappointment. We had been looking forward to using it. When I asked how long the jacuzzi had been out of service, I got a vague response. No it had not been down weeks or months, but I got no better information than that. And still no willingness to compensate us for the failures in service. I'd have to "talk to the manager" who wouldn't be available until the morning. Problem 4: Our room was on the ground floor. There were no "sheer" curtains, just opaque ones. We had to choose between privacy or daylight. Problem 5: The coffeemaker in the room did not have a caraffe. It brewed directly into one styrofoam cup at a time. We had two coffee packets so we could make exactly two cups of coffee. We tried to eke out a third cup of drinkable coffee by putting both used coffee brew bags into the machine. We managed to make another cup, but it also made a mess. (We cleaned it up.) We did get a good night's sleep, and had a decent "free" breakfast in the morning. Aside from the curtains and the coffeemaker the room was okay. But it was not worth the $102 we paid. I expected better and believe we deserved better. I didn't choose to hunt down the manager in the morning. I wasn't up for spoiling the morning with a probably futile fight with a manager who will tolerate a staff with a "customer be damned" attitude. We got on the road, enjoyed the day, and wrote off the problems at the Day's Inn Lickdale as a lesson learned. There's a Holiday Inn right across the street. If I'm ever back in Lickdale I think I'll give them a try.

Great Hotel
By AronW, 2/8/06
The Days Inn was very conveniently located off I-81 at exit 90. The rooms were very clean. The staff was friendly. Continental Breakfast had good variety. They also have a jacuzzi and exercise room downstairs. It is easily accessible to Harrisburg and Hershey(20 minutes) and Lancaster (45 minutes) without having to pay the big city hotel prices. Would definitely stay again.
