Value - Basic but Solid in Phoenix

This hotel relatively decent driving distance to cactus league baseball located in Surprise/Peoria (about 15 or perhaps 20 minutes one way - not bad considering how large Phoenix is), and in my case was much less expensive than accomodation located up in that area. The hotel is also close to freeway, easy to get to which was nice (a couple of tricky turns once off the freeway, but do it once, and then its a breeze). I got a room located away from freeway, and I would recommend this from a noise perspective. This is a family owned and operated facility - the guy was friendly, his wife not very. My room included a sink in the main room, a small fridge and ancient microwave - all were clean and operational. Room was clean, comfy and well maintained. The heat and airconditioning unit looked new, and functioned well. As another reviewer noted, the free included breakfast is pathetic (fruit loops, rice crispies, stale pastries, fructose rich orange juice, awful coffee). The jacuzzi was operational and a nice place to relax around sunset (it is in the shade in the afternoon). In the neighborhood are many fast food choices, a hispanic grocery store, and several gas station-convenience stores (though I would avoid the gas station-convenience stores late at night ... the clientele looked a little rough). If you go to the Travelodge site direct, they sometimes have internet only specials. I would stay at this place again.
