Historic Captiva Island Inn B & B, Captiva

We stayed in the "Love Shack" and it was just that - a shack. Very tiny and the bed was wobbly. The first night we where there a group of Hispanic men parked right outside our door playing Mexican music and drinking, and that went on till about mid-night. We ran out of toilet paper the second day and had to buy our own. The food at R.C. Otters is better than the Key Lime Bistro (don't do the crabcake sandwich). The beach was a little walking distance away (not like it shows on the web-site)......but it is the cheapest place to stay on a very expensive island. The innkeeper is a very nice man, but only stays on property till 9:00pm. The islanders are not really nice people either. We do highly recommend the boat trip to Cabbage Key.

This inn is such a shame as it could be a wonderful place if it was not for the total lack of customer service. Complaints of noise or any other disturbance will go unheard . Basically if your not happy about the service - the solution to the inn keeper seems to simply be - just leave the inn.

I was looking forward to a quaint, romantic B&B. What we found was a musty, smelly, rundown cottage. My husband offered to find other accomodations after we walked into our cottage, but we had already paid, and I didn't think they would refund our money. My husband couldn't believe I would actually stay there. When we left I had bug bites on my legs. The only positive is the location. It is close to everything...just a few minutes walk to the beach & restaurants. I prefer beachfront, but not much of that on Captiva. Definitely won't stay there again. The food at R.C. Otters was good, but service there and at Keylime Bistro was soooo S-L-O-W.
