BEST Beach-oriented hotel to stay in when visiting Guam
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/17/05
I've stayed at this hotel twice now - and this is hands down the nicest resort in Guam (and I've been to most of the other hotels there).
The outrigger has by and far the nicest pool area of all the major resorts in Guam - with two interwinding pools and one of the nicest jacuzzis I've evr seen which faces the beach.
Next to the hotel on the beach there is a shop that rents watersports gear and organizes tours. Their initial prices are ridiculously high (para-sailing for 30 min - $80) but the prices easily drop to something like $35 for the entire day with a little negotiating. Basically they are gearing prices to wealthy Japanese tourists.
The views from the hotel are amazing - and each room features a wonderful little balcony with enough room for 3 or chairs. The room seem new-ish and are both large and relaxing (with aqua colors). Bathrooms are quite large. And the beds are very very comfortable.
The lobby is large and relaxing - and often features spa staff giving free 10 minute massages - which is a nice touch (no pun intended).
The staff at the front desk and at the pool side were very friendly. Other staff were a bit indifferent for some reason.
The restaurant (forgot the name) was nothing great. The breakfast buffet was expensive and lackluster.
I did not try the spa - but it seemed very popular.
The hotel is in a great location - right in the middle of the main tourist area and next to a small shopping mall, across from DFS, and next to the Hard Rock Cafe, a gaming center, a marine park, and other clubs/shopping.
This hotel is highly recommended and will certainly leave you feeling good about returning to Guam.
