Horrible Experience
By Mrs. J, 05/22/09
My husband and I went on vacation down there 2 weeks ago. I was checking rates at several hotels and went into the Best Western to ask some questions about what their rates were for a 2 night stay there. An older polite man answered my questions and then I said thanks and started to walk out to tell my husband who waited in the car. An older lady (I assume was manager) who was standing right next to the man who answered my questions, stopped me and asked me how old I was, so I told her how old I was, which I am 19. She acted like she didnt like my answer. Then she told me how the hotel basically didnt "trust" younger people and how they have had bad experiences with them in the past. Well I was very offended. Personally I think that not all young people are irresponsible, some are very responsible. I told her I was married & still she persisted that we werent trusted simply because we were young. So she wanted a wavor signed, us to pay a 100$ deposit plus pay their nightly rates, and she wanted my husband to come in so she could get to know him better. So I say, "Good Luck, with your silly policies." "They will sooner or later lose you business." We went and stayed at a very nice hotel, for a cheaper rate with NO questions asked about our ages. So young people I do not suggest you stay here at the Best Western unless you want the whole staff watching you like a hawk. Go stay some where else where you can be yourselves.

Loved it
By nicole, 09/06/08
We are from Louisiana and unfortunately had to evacuate for the storm...this hotel graciously took all of us Louisiana people in with open arms and also allowed us to bring our pets with us. The staff was so welcoming and understanding of the situation at hand. We would definitely go back for a vacation!! Loved the cabana bar and the lounge at night, kept our mind off of the storm and we had a Blast!

Go Back in Time...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/08
RETRO all the way!!!! If you want to go back in time...stay here. This is a very clean place to stay and affordable rates. Right on the beach and breakfast is also included which gave us a wide variety to choose from. I will be back next year. We had a great time...enjoyed the music and the personal was very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a lovely visit to Florida!!!

Not like it use to be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
We have been coming to this hotel for about 4 years now. I can honestly say that was my last time. It is so different there, the service is not like it use to be. I saw a roach crawling in the breakfast area. The staff is not as friendly. Some looked like they didn't want to be there. I think we will try a different hotel next time we go to this area.

Wonderful Stay
By Dianne, 09/23/07
The location is great, the hotel was not that busy in mid Sept. so the beach was not crowded, the water very clear and the beach kept very clean. Our room was a wonderful beachview on the 6th floor, the staff was most helpful ( I fell in the ocean and trashed my cell phone) they gave me directions to the cellular store, looked up numbers and called them for me, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Each room has a microwave and small refrigerator which was very convinent. the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was sufficent and always kept well stocked. I cannot go back soon enough!!

There was a big problem with bugs in the room. Some of the staff was helpful. They told us they did have a problem with bugs and that someone would look nto it. Housekeeping was great.

Stay away from the General Manager
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/07
We had a very unfortunate experience with this hotel. An unwrapped bar of soap was left in the shower when we arrived. (Simple mistake, should not have been a big deal...) But that particular bar of soap gave my husband a nasty case of a fungal disease that will remain unnamed (you can guess). I didn't use the soap and I was fine, so it wasn't the sheets. We had both assumed the other person unwrapped the soap, since usually they come wrapped in paper. But the day we left (and we were there three nights, so it wasn't from before that), his skin was mightily affected. He consulted with a dermatologist (on the phone) who told him what it was, how to treat it, and that hotels are one of the most common places to get it. When I called the hotel, the manager was very sympathetic. Unfortunately, she had to refer me to the General Manager, who was not only not helpful, but intensely rude. When she finally called me back 2 days later, she basically told me what had happened was impossible because they are an "award-winning" hotel. She said she would "check with housekeeping" and call me back. She never called. I called 3 or 4 weeks later and again, the first manager was very sympathetic and shocked the general manager hadn't done anything. I left a voicemail for the general manager, asking her to call me (she was gone for the week). Again, she never called. When I finally got a hold of her another week later, she pretty much told me I was making things up again and that there was nothing she could do since she "didn't really know what happened." Then she pretty much hung up on me. She never apologized, either for what happened or for not calling me back. She never offered a refund or a free stay to make up for my husband's condition. This is not how you win awards, so I can only assume that happened before she got there! She would not or could not give me contact info for the owner, so I'm left having to go through the Chamber of Commerce to get a response. Frankly, I was shocked by the whole thing. I've always experienced managers to be the people who are focused on making the customer happy. She seemed more interested in pretending what I'd described was impossible. We were there as part of a 60 or so room conference. The conference will not be returning to this hotel!

Awful!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/06
My husband and I had reservations to stay at the Best Western while in the early planning stages our wedding. We found that there was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and around the tub. My husband found a half eated, hard boiled egg (??) on the floor next to the bed. The bed was too low and very warn out. The furnishing, advertised as “unique art-deco” it was more like “faded tropical trash.” Disgusted by this hotel, we only made it through one night before checking out early to move to another beachfront hotel down the road. The only positive thing I have to say about this property is that is has a very hip lounge. I guess the management is aware that you will need to have your “beer goggles” on to make it through a night there. Never again!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/05
i liked that it was right on the beach and that there was brekfast downstairs also the people there are really nice and i also like it because the beds are really confortable and its just a real good place to go and get away from home. some things that aren't so good is that the rooms dont have stoves and dvd players. If yo all had that the hotel would be the bomb!!!!
