Americas Best Value Inn, Slidell

This place was nasty, and i dont know when the pics were taken but nothing looks like this anymore. It smelled like curry and the people were rude. There were dead bugs in the drawers and it was way over priced. We got in very late and our room at our other hotel was not available till the next afternoon. We slept on top of the covers with our own linens we brought with us. (traveling by car from michigan we got in at 3am) this place was gross and the pool wasnt available but i would not have let the kids swim there anyway. If your looking for a disgusting bug infested place You have found it.

This motel is a great location. It is 25 miles NE of New Orleans and 80 miles W of Baton Rouge. It is convenient to great shopping (North Shore Square Mall and Crossings Shopping Center are within a few miles. Great food ( and affordaable too) is nearby - PIccadilly Cafeteria, Sicily's Italian Buffet, and CiCi's Pizza are all found in Crossing Shopping Center 1 1/2 miles west on Gause Blvd. St. Margaret Mary RC Church (1 1/4 miles NW on the corner of Robert Rd. and Indepedence) is THE place to be on Saturday nights at 5PM cst and Sunday Nights at 6PM cst for great meaningful worship. The motel is located in such a nice area that we are planning on retiring within a few miles of this location.

Our Habitat group came down from Bridgeport, CT, for our ninth trip to rebuild in this area and we could not have had a more gracious host than Baku at the Best Value. He was warm and welcoming and went out of his way to make sure our trip was pleasant and we had what we needed. No, this is not a 5-star-hotel, but we're not paying 5-star-prices. Everything in the room worked, it was cleaned every day. The microwave and frig were handy to have. The internet connection was fabulous. One caveat, bring your own alarm clock.
