Not the best in Seward...could be the worse?
By Ralph A, 8/28/09
Harbor Views are great..but avoid the other side. Harbor access is the only reason to stay here! Hotel was filthy. Room was never cleaned. Found an empty bear bottle on the balcony. Mud tracks remained untouched for 2 days! Heard other people complain! The Internet computer is also just a shame. Time to replace it, Holiday Inn management! Breakfast was really marginal, unless you like the suggar rush! I would look elsewhere for a hotel!

Nice, but expensive
By lovestotravel, 6/28/09
Super expensive for not that big of a room (deluxe room, $199). The steam shower was a bit silly. The normal shower head itself was nice and the steam being fully enclosed was amazing, but all the jets and “waterfall” were unnecessary. The room itself didn’t have great views as they state, some mountains in the distance but nothing worth seeing. We kept the shades closed. The kings sized bed was nice and comfortable. The robes were super soft. It was nice having a refrigerator and microwave. One major problem was the smell. Everything smelled, the shower smelled maybe from the steam? The whole room smelled, maybe from the fireplace, which was very nice, warm, convenient, but smelly. I know I wouldn’t have stayed here had I known.

Please don't stay here - there's better places
By Ann Williams, 9/28/08
We stayed in one of the apartments for a couple nights as part of our 2 week trip around Alaska. a) How do they call this the Harborview hotel? The hotel is 5 blocks in from the harbor and there's no view of the harbor. The apartments ARE right across the street from the harbor. But most people are in the hotel. b) They have a sign over the sink about routine maid service each day and if you want the dishes cleaned, leave $10. In the bathroom, there's signs about 'help save water / leave towels on the rack to reuse them or put them in the tub and we'll give you new ones. Turns out, they don't come down to the apartments every day. We needed dry towels after a rainy day on a boat... and had to come up to the front desk late in the day since housekeeping never went to our place. The front desk person was unapologetic. c) They advertise that you get an internet connection. Not at the apartments though. They suggested I leach off someone's wifi nearby. There isn't any signal down there. Their lobby (front desk and not much more space) closes at 10PM. They said I could sit in my car after that time outside the office and use their wifi that way. The front desk person was unapologetic. d) So after the rainy day on the boat, we needed a dryer. Harborview does not have a washer / dryer. I haven't needed one before, but always wind up walking past a laundry room. We wound up sneaking into the Holiday Inn Express, using their dryer and seeing that their property is very nice, much newer and comparably priced to the Harborview. Please stay most anywhere else besides the Harborview. You will have a better experience if you go elsewhere. And my avitar is a smile face, but that's not how I feel about this place!

Great place
By GailJ, 7/10/07
This was a great place to stay. Clean and quiet. Staff is really helpful and nice. Rooms are comfortable and clean. We requested a ground level and got it, so that was nice. Walking distance from downtown and the shopping area. Lots of things to see and do, but it is a LONG walk from the cruise ships. Take a taxi, a long way to haul your luggage! The local laundry is just behind, although many machines are out of service. Had a great time talking with everyone at the laundry though!

Harborview Inn
By MonaB, 4/12/04
Great place to stay ... I would pay to stay there again! Clean, well taken care of rooms, well maintained grounds, excellent location and a great staff. The owners are most helpful, knowledgeable and well informed. They made me feel like a number one customer.

This hotel is in a great location with great views of Alaska. The service was excellent as well and very friendly! It is located in a quiet town with lots to do and friendly locals.
