I wouldn't stay here again
By golfgrll, 8/29/11
Bad neighborhood. Noisy place. room had holes. The radio clock was smashed. Saw a rat in the bathroom. The staff made me uncomfortable to stay. The floor squeaked. Only got 4 tc channels. Hair was in the bed and stains on the sheets. Never saw housekeeping. The elevator wasn't working. Had to use the stairs. The breakfest was frozen and unthawed. I wouldn't stay here again.

not the best but pretty good.
By First L, 4/22/10
i mean for 50 bucks this place was awesome , nice staff safe area.I suggest you ignore the other reviews and just go try it out. I mean the hotel is old since the building is historical but its not dirty . just out dated ,defiantly a family friendly place and not a few hours thing. very quit and relaxing night.

a nightmare of service ineptitude
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/07
The only place my family & I could find near our destination. Decent enough looking from the outside. Inside a lobby full of questionable characters & reeking of cigarettes & beer. Room was dingy dusty & in ill repair. Price for the "jacuzzi suite" was a little steep considering the tiny-ness of the room. The jacuzzi practically butted up to the foot of our bed. Ceiling tiles loose, ill fitting & ready to come down. lamp w/ electrical wiring cover falling off. Jacuzzi with an electrical outlett hovering directly over it a clear violation of any water/electricity common sense or safety. The absolute deal breaker however was on a 20 degree windy ice cold Michigan night there was no heat in our room. An inept maintainance man was sent up who clanged & banged around, & promised the world yet never really fixed anything or produced any heat no one ever offered to move us, front desk clerk never seemed to be able to get off the telephone long enough to talk with us much less actually handle any kind of a complaint. Upon demand my money was completely refunded yet then as sort of an after thought the maintainance man was sent again to our room, not to fix anything like say ythe heat. Moreover to ensure that It was "clean" or we would have to pay for the room if was not. I informed him that I had allready been refunded my money so I considered that point mute especially since the cleanliness of this room was so questiionable upon check in. Then they called the police on us & while I was loading our suit cases into my trunk a squad car arrived I spoke with the officer breifly, the hotel staff it seems cancelled their call to the local men in blue just as he arrived seems the condition that we left our ice cold, broken down, barely clean room was good enough. Yet no one ever offered any appologies. We ran out of there in search of a place where customer satisfaction was the goal & never looked back!

Don't Expect Much
By tennisplayer33, 4/15/07
The location was close to our destination. Small rooms, very dated, nothing modern, and cleanliness was questionable. Elevator was either extremely slow or not working, don't know which, but we ended up always taking the stairs. We purchased multiple rooms and some of our people said they found unfamiliar hairs in their beds and and spots on the sheets. Breakfast consisted of powdered and cake dougnuts that seemed like they had been unfrozen and placed out. The coffe was good. This is an ok deal if you can get a room for about $40 per night. Otherwise you will be overpaying. It was my understanding that this is a AAA Rated 2 Star Hotel. I don't know what it is rated but should be rated a 1 Star Hotel compared to other 2 Star Hotels I have visited.
