Disgusting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/10
Staying on this pile of garbage was a true nightmare experience. If you have a little respect for yourself, don’t plan to stay there unless you have a high tolerance to filth, disgusting and rude service, sickening food and management who do not want to listen to your complaints. They violate basic regulations and that include safety policies. Electrical wiring and hot connections are exposed to adults and children creating serious hazard to your safety, TV would not work, cold water in the shower, dirty tub, toilet and restroom in general, filthy towels, bed which feels like a hardwood floor and much more “attractions” that can make you feel humiliated and resentful. Essentially, this place should not be pronounced as a hotel in the first place. Please, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else but this dump spot.

Would rather have stayed in the terminal at JFK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/29/10
Everything negative thing I've read about this hotel in all the various travel sites is absolutely true about this awful place! I experienced at least everything written about it. The room was shabby and disorganized. The telephone did not work. Neither did two of the 4 lights in the room. The A/C did work, but not well. There is no real restaurant and one is only offered a computer printed menu of 6 items -- all Indian cuisine???? There are no other options. If you eat -- it will be at your own risk. Beware! This place is shabby and dirty overall and is in the basement. I paid $22 for the worst food I've ever experienced including $10 for a glass of Yellow Tail wine to wash it down (the only visible liquor available). The waitress seemed to be lost most of the time, running up and down the steps to the lobby and was never there to take anybody's order -- much less deliver it to their table. The staff in this hotel is minimal (3 at the front desk) and nobody seems to know what they are doing or why they are doing it. Don't plan on visiting the "Gift Shop" unless you want 5-year-old peanut butter crackers and want to buy a "I love New York" t-shirt -- and then -- only when the owner feels like unlocking the door for your business. I was forced to stay there when a Delta employee called them for me, when I had a two-day layover on May 12, 2010 -- due to unknown reasons. I would never, never go back there! How this place can remain open is a mystery to me. Does the State of New York not inspect and approve such facilities?

Would rather sleep on the street
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/7/10
Terrible! I booked this on hotwire for a friend who was stuck at JFK airport. The shuttle driver at the airport insisted on waiting 45 more minutes before he would take him to the hotel (hotel is 3 minutes from JFK). Upon arrival - no towels, water poured out of sink onto floor any time he tried to run water. Bed and room were dirty and smelly. This all transpired at 10:30 pm! This was listed as a 3 star. I paid $134 total on Hotwire for this dump. Don't let the stars fool you. This is a no star.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!!
By I'm just saying, 5/30/10
I booked this hotel through Orbitz which confirmed my reservation for a one night stay in a double bed room handicapped accessible. After driving for three hours we finally made it to JFK hotel. To check in we waited on the line 1 hour. The check in clerk were inexperienced and had no clue what rooms were available. Finally when I got to the clerk to confirm my double bed room, she tells me they only have King room available. I explained my confirmation was for double bed handicapped room. Of course this was a no go. I explained to the clerk I am with my two children and husband how in the world was we all going to sleep in one king size bed? My credit card was charged. They had to find someone to refund my charges which takes 24 hours to process with the bank. NO manager or supervisor was on duty and after two hours at the front desk I had to find another hotel. This hotel is a no no for anyone with decent common sense. The atmosphere is dangerous and the crowd that hangs downstairs is all the more dangerous. Please the price is cheap I know' but better to be safe than sorry!!!

Horrendous
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/09
Seriously, the only reason people stay here is because they have to. An outdated smelly carcass of a high-rise from decades past. If you are bumped off your flight or missed connections due to mechanical/weather events then you will have to stay nearby JFK, but do not let the name Crowne Plaza fool you into believing this is a decent place to stay because it is not. More on the level of a $39.00/night roadside fleabag. Quite possibly the worst place I have ever stayed. I actually encountered other unfortunate travelers ousted from JFK shuttering in disbelief and disgust over the facility during an elevator ride. To think JFK is the gateway into the USA for much of the world. Front desk staff was pleasant and sympathetic to guests plight but accomodations are abominable. Health department needs to inspect for source of foul odors throughout facility. Fortunately their shuttle was reliable, as we could not wait to depart for our flight the next morning and fortunately we did!

No longer a crowne plaza
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/08
The owners of this hotel have not paid bills and have bounced employee paychecks. The crowne plaza name has been stripped from this property

No longer affiliated with Crowne Plaza
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/08
We did not feel safe with hooded young men walking the halls early in the morning and a large group of young men and women hanging out in the lobby at 5:30 in the morning. None of these people seemed to have been paying guests, since some of them walked out and down the neighboring street. The front doors were wide open and the front desk was unmanned. When we contacted Crowne Plaza about our concern they stated that this hotel was no longer affiliated with them. We tried to contact the hotel by email, but all emails were returned.

Don't have a meeting or stay here.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/18/08
My company planned a dinner and an all day meeting here for 20 people. They never returned phone calls, our meeting rooms were not ready upon arrival, they stopped communicating with us about our rooming lists and the details of our meeting. They sold rooms that we already had booked. The place was outdated, ugly, and the staff was extremely unprofessional with our organization. They billed things to our credit card that shouldn't have been billed, they would not send us an itemized bill when asked, and they are just simply very hard to communicate with. A meeting planners nightmare.

I am returning in November.
By Fluffy Bermy Diva, 10/30/06
I loved everything about the Crowne Plaza. The room and amenties were excellant, the bed was the most wonderful Hotel bed I had ever slept in. The staff were also wonderful. In Bermuda we have 5 star quality hotels and I would consider this hotel to be a 5 star hotel also.
