Hampton Inn Amelia Island at Fernandina Beach, Fernandina Beach

I use Hampton Inn hotels when I travel on business and most are the same with good service, clean, etc. So I felt fine booking this hotel for my vacation. My wife was worried because the reviews were average. When we got there we were welcomed by some of the nicest hotel staff I have ever encountered. The hotel looked great, freshly decorated and clean. The service we received was like the "good old days" when a company still did their best for you and wanted you to return. The breakfast is good and they have a treasure chest of toys for kids to choose from every morning. We told the staff about the “okay” reviews and they pointed out that they are several years old (2004, 2007). They then told us that they are ranked in the top 10 of the Hampton Hotels in Florida. We were impressed-but not surprised! Needless to say, we will be back again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hampton Inn Amelia Island. The hotel was clean, well priced and close to everything on the island. Our only problem we had with the hotel was other guests and their dogs. We didn't really think much that this hotel accepted dogs until we got there and found the dogs everywhere (Hallways, pool, breakfast area). There were 5 dogs staying at the hotel who all seemed to have inconsiderate owners. But, giving credit to the hotel, they did keep on top of the owners and responded immediately when we expressed our concern about the dog being loose in the pool area (our 5-year old daughter is very afraid of dogs) while we were trying to swim. The hotel is close to the beach and all amenities but if you're going strictly for the beach and have young children - please keep in mind that there are no public washrooms on the beach closest to the hotel. The breakfast buffet was good - very good selection. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definately recommend this hotel!
