Not Bad

Stayed during the weekend of the World Curling. All in all it was a good stay. Staff was friendly, even the notorious "bad" manager was working the desk when we checked in and he was very friendly and welcoming. The accomodations were fine, nothing fancy but clean. We had a double queen room. It had a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer. Beds were comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was a good general continental hotel breakfast - toast, waffle iron, lots of different pastries and goodies, fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juice, great iced coffee and then they had coffee/tea and cookies/fruit available all day. The breakfast lady was somewhat crabby, but she must have been at least 78 years old and needs to retire.
The pool area was good, large hot tub, nice sauna, there was also a pool table and other games in the pool area also. Only thing I did not really like was that they apparently sell monthly passes for the general public to use the pool area. Seemed like the public users felt they ruled the pool area.
Location was good, just a few blocks from the mall and further up the street is the Ralph arena.
I would rate it as a decent to good stay, not fancy by any means but comfortable. The only big down side was the price. They definetaly were fleecing everyone on the weekend as the city was booked out of hotels rooms due to the world curling. I imagine every hotel was jacking their prices. The room was probably worth $80-$90 (our rate on the Thursday was $89) but on the weekend they jacked it up to $149 per night..... wholly sheep!
