Horrible Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/11
Hello, We have just come back from the resort and it was total chaos. The reason why we are unhappy with our stay is because since we arrived we basically spent the whole day going back to the reception trying to solve different issues. First they put us in a building that was under construction and the room was dirty and smelled of dust and paint. Second, they sent us to a room that the lights were not working and no water in the shower. After a while they sent a technician to fix it and there was water in the shower but the sink started leaking so much we had to put towels under it to absorb the water. The TV remote control did not work. The toilet smelled horrible and was dirty. There were many flies and mosquitoes flying around the dinning area. The servers were walking around with clothe napkins trying to kill the mosquitoes and bugs. My husband and I were not expecting a five star fancy hotel, but at least a decent place to stay. Around 9:00 PM we called the reception again and they told us to pack our bags to be transferred to a better room. The 3rd building we were sent to was even worse than the 1st and the 2nd. The AC was not properly working and there were hairs on the bed sheets and it was dirty as well. After all of this we went back to the lobby deciding to leave the resort. We requested to speak to the manager or person in charge but the receptionist said that he had "stepped out" for 20 minutes. We waited over an hour and he never showed up, nor we heard from him. We asked if we could get connected to the internet or borrow the phone to call Bookit.com but they said they did not have your number. In order to make the call to the tollfree number we had to pay them US $3.00 per minute. The service at this resort was horrible, we did not have a good vacation at all and if you can avoid going to this place do so because vacation time is precious, specially for those that work hard and just want to have a quality time, which is priceless.

Beach was awesome!!! Kids Friendly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/14/10
It was a my 3 kids and my hubby, stayed fr long weekend. Great settings, lovely pools, the people were very nice. The rooms were very outdated that was the worst part but we did not go to stay in the rooms, literarly we sleep in the rooms for like a couple of hours we were all night at the beach wich was secure. the kids had a blast, the food was ok . What i liked the most was the beautiful beach and very clear. The kids had a wonderful time, like i said we did not go there for the rooms overall everything was awesome. Dont forget the drinks were very good!!! I will go again.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/10
My wife and I love the Hotel and the employees are very courtesous. They go the extra mile to bring you the best possible service. We love the Hotel that much that joined the Vacation Club to be able to visit more frequently. We had visited the Hotel four times already since 2005. We recommended the Hotel 100%

TRIP REVIEW !!!
well where do i begin... Both my husband and i took our 5 year anniversary trip to this hotel/resort on 06/08/08-06/12/08. We had a wonderful experience except for a few snags of course. to begin we had 3 rooms before we settled in the 4th one. The 1st the floor was wet, not sure why, the 2nd was in the back with no view of anything, the 3rd had no working tv & phone and the 4th i guess after much frustration with us was satisfactory. It was clean, spacious and had a beautiful ocean front & pool view with a hug balcony. we had a wonderful night out on our first night as this was the day of our actual anniversary. It was a tremendously humbling experience to be there as i am from an english speaking caribbean island but i still felt one in the same. Though i reside in the us i still embrace all of my caribbean heritage & upbringing so it meant alot for me to be there. I did however have to draw back for some spanish i learnt in h.s. Though i spoke very little spanish i still understood most of what they were saying. We had the pleasure of interacting with several people who though the spoke spanish spoke limited or some english. They even taught us how to say different spanish words with regard to different foods being served in the buffett. on day 2 we went on our trip to "isla saona" and it was breathtaking. The swim with the starfishes in the "natural swimming pool" (the water was crystal clear and literally waist deep or so and we were a distance away from the coast) was like nothing i had experienced; we have so much video and photos. Of course we didn't dock where the vast majority of the starfish were or you wouldn't be able to walk without stepping on them. our experience on the island was very pleasant the girls were friendly and very beautiful and a local male native told my husband he resembled "usher" (the r&b singer; believe it or not we get that alot in the us.) the food was good along with the "cuba libre" (rum & coke), "brahma" (beer) & of course the mamajuana. U better ask somebody 'bout that. Of course we avoided "jamon" (ham or pork) at all cost, lol. we went swimming for hours and left our stuff and not a soul touched it or went near it. I have never experienced such a laid back attitude & honesty of any people in any country. After several hours on the island (they almost left us...lol) we speedboated back to the "catamaran" (sailboat) and partied, danced and drank our way back to bayahibe (fishing village) to where we caught our tour bus. Beautiful scenic views at times; being from an island it sometimes looked the same the long and short is- our trip was excellent, the hotel i would assume was top of the line when it was being operated by the hilton but now needs work. It is huge & still accomodating. We were given a tour by a vacation guide- carlos jose and was told it would be renovated starting next year. The staff was excellent- "cesar" the lobby bartender, "porfinio" the breakfast chef among many others. The food was good, a little similar to my country but good none the least, the atmosphere was really chill and that is what i appreciated most of all. We had late night walks on the beach without a soul bothering us. i would recommend d.r 100% but i think next time we will try a different hotel/resort and/or a different area in d.r such as punta cana or puerta plata. good luck and remember results are not typical.... We all like different things.

Great for everyone. Loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/27/08
We just got back from the Coral Costa Caribe and it was very impressing. Its great for everyone. I was there with a group of nine. 5 kids ranging from 7-15 and 4 adults. The younger kids had a great time swimming in the pool and being at the "Kids Club" where they can play and the older ones loved being around the beach. The beach is beuatiful and the pools are great. Also, although there was picky eaters with us, we all loved the food. Definatley some of the best I've ever eaten. There is 4 resturants at night, I reccommend them all. For breakfast, there is the buffet, which is very good, they serve omlets, pancakes, bacon, french toast, sausage and fruit as well as more Dominican type food. For lunch We always ate at Mangos which serves pizza, fries, burgers, hot dogs, and some pasta. Everything there was really good. The rooms aren't 5 star, but they're all that you need. Majority are only there to sleep anyways.Yes, there may have been a few little ants, but its Dominican, what did you expect. They're certainly not that bad. But a tip for the maids may help, they will give you more towels, etc. More advice however: use the safe. The maids sometimes mistake things, thinking your leaving it for them, So for anything important, put it in. The staff and people though, are great. They're extremly friendly. Plus they always have activities up during the day and night. During the day its aerobics, water polo and games, at night they will *sometimes* put on a great dancing shows but other nights just funny participating shows. We all loved it here, although we were nervous because of some unnessecary bad reviews. If your going, make the best of it and have a great trip! We sure did. Also, be prepared at the beach, many people will try to get you to buy things. They may push a little but just say No and they wil leave you alone.

Nice Vacation
I recently spent a week at Costa Caribe in February 2008, the front desk staff were freindly and tried to help as best they could. I was travelling with my mom and uncle so we requested a 3rd bed and when it didn't come I had to badger them downstairs for about 2 hours...after a generous tip our bed arrived. We had very few problems, the toilet leaked (we just kept turning the water off when not in use, the beds were really hard. You have to remember you are in a 3rd world country and they dont necessairly have the proper equipment to deal with problems. We did not have any problems with bugs in our room. There was very little to do so, we went on excursions almost everyday! The food was good, especially the mexican restaurant (be sure to make your own burritos!). The only downside I noticed were the prostitutes that hung around the casino. However, nobody really approached anyone I met while down there. The club was fun, they played the latest music and there were pool and fooseball tables. The cleaning staff were great,(Martha was our maid and she was so helpful) overall I would give it a 3 1/2 out of 5. We enjoyed our time down there...

The Best way to spend Christmas
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/23/08
My wife and I spent Christmas 2007 at the Coral Costa Caribe. The drive from the Airport was 3 hours but we knew that from the start so we were prepared for it. When we got to the hotel our check in was seamless. Room was great,Our Balcony over looking the Court Yard, facing the beach. We had a few minor complaints but they were taken cared of promptly and efficiently. The food was Awsome...every morning for Breakfast there was something new added to the Buffet. We enjoyed the Chridtmas Eve program...These folks could teach North Americans a thing or two.....They were'nt afraid to Dpict the Christmas story without compramise.

this hotel is amazing! The rooms were clean and very neat. it was a little bit old fashioned but i was fine with that. it was not crowded at all! it was just right. The food was great. we went to the traditional dominican rep. resturante and it was soooooooooo good! The beaches were great. the only thing that didnt really like is that it had a reef. It is great for the kids and their are 2 swimming pools. Warm sunny and acctually never rained while we were their.(6 days)

Excellent!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/07
Me and my best friend went on march break. I had the best time of my life! Food is great, my friend had a serious allergy to a certain food, and the cooks were always willing to help her out.The service was good as well, and if u go to the sports bar, the bar tenders are very nice! :) Word of advice: Bring a big coffee mug, because you won;t have to keep leaving the beach to refill your drinks. There is always something to do, and the beach was good. There were always chairs available. We went snorkeling, it was enjoyable, but you only get to see about three kinds of fish and after a while it gets repetitive. The disco was great as well, we arrived on the weekend so the place was packed with locals. If you do not know how to 'salsa' be prepared to not dance on the weekends. However, during the week it was great. Over all, i would deffinitly reccomend this resort!! :)
