Death Iin The Family
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/11
My sister passed away just before my intended stay with this hotel, so I forgot to cancel my reservation. As you can imagine, it was the last thing on my mind. I realized later that they'd charged me for a 'no show.' It took me calling the hotel 3 times, even though I left messages for the manager to call me back, before I got any response from them. I had explained my situation, that my sister had died and that's why I forgot to cancel my reservation, not to mention this was 2 weeks before Christmas, so you can also imagine the hardship it put on me trying to buy gifts for my children, after having to miss work for the funeral, and all the manager could say was 'there's nothing we can do.' I expressed my feelings on their lack of compassion, and she just sat quietly on the phone and gave no response what so ever. All I could do was hang up. But I will certainly never make a reservation with this hotel again. You cannot foresee what tragic events might take place in your life, so if you don't want to pay $93 for a hotel you forgot to cancel due to something like this, DO NOT book with this hotel!
