Three Chimneys Inn, Durham

I surprised my mom on her 75th birthday with a weekend get-a-way and it was wonderful. The Inn is so warm, welcoming and impeccably clean. The service was awesome, they couldn't do enough for you and everyone was so friendly. We stayed in the handicapped room on the first floor of the carriage house and it was beautiful and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge! We were very pleased with the buffet breakfast but a little disappointed with the dinner, not enough potatoes with our meat. All-in-all, our stay was very enjoyable, it was well worth the cost and we would definately go back again. It's the perfect place for a special occasion or a romantic get-a-way and I would recommend it highly. Thank you for such a beautiful home away from home!!

While quaint and very cozy, the only thing keeping this eating establishment afloat are the drinks. We ordered an appetizer of crab cakes that has average flavor but were cold in the middle. For the main course my wife had Duck and I, Beef Tenderloin. Both were warm at best. The duck had average flavor, nothing special. The beef was oddly cooked and the appearance reminded me of using a George Forman grill. The vegetables we burnt. I suspect they were precooking everything and reheating in a microwave. Overall a BIG let down. The service was poor. Our waitress mysteriously disappeared during diner and then strategically asked what we'd like for dessert rather than ask how everything was. I think she new the food was off given the folks at the next table sent something back with their waiter who was around. My words of wisdom would be DON"T GO HERE.
