Hotel Renoir, Cannes

I booked this hotel as a 3-star bargain. I figured it would be barely adequate considering what I was paying. It turned out to be one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed. It is a short 5-minute walk to La Croisette, the service was very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were impeccably clean. They had just re-furbished the entire hotel in 2006 and the decor is positively lovely. Done in tones of cream, taupe and silver, I had the small suite (one step up from a single). There was a separate study, bathroom and bedroom with 2 balconies overlooking the street. The lighting and decor were wonderful. But the best part was the continental breakfast they bring to your toom each morning, served on a silver tray. So civilized :-) Janet
