I'm truly disappointed in this particular Extended Stay. I've stayed at the one in Fayetteville, NC several times & was always pleased; however it was the very opposite here. Firstly, when I checked into my room it was TINY & smelled. It had a damp, kind of moldy smell to it. The room was also dirty - the toilet was very stained, there was hair on the sink, the nightstand had dust an inch thick, etc. The chair in the room was a recliner that was stained & had burn holes. The comforter on the bed was stained & also had burn holes on it. Then I looked at the t.v. - is was TINY & the remote didn't work. The phone looked as if it was from the 1930s. At this point I was ready to leave hotel completely; however, I attempted to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt in thinking that maybe the room had not been cleaned/not ready for occupants - but the bed was made. So I went to the front desk & they were very apologetic & offered to clean the room or allow me to move to an "upgraded" room for free. I agreed to move to another room.
The new was a little better but still dissatisfying. This room was larger. color-coordinated, had paintings, t.v. was larger & included a remote, the fridge was full sized and looked very clean, etc.; however, the microwave seemed very "old" compared to the fridge & stove burners, the door didnt' close completely at the bottom. The counter was chipped, the floor was stained, the inside of the comforter on the bed was stained, & the walls were scuffed. The clock on the nightstand either didn't work or was unplugged. I could hear the occupants of neighboring rooms due to the thin walls.
I was alone & didn't feel safe at all so I knew I had no other choice but to leave. So I went back to the front desk to speak to "Yolanda" advising her of my inability to stay. She apologized numerous times. She seemed to be very sincere. I had paid for 3 days, by I couldn't do it. I got a refund for the internet access I purchased & for the remaining days. I left immediately & checked into another hotel. The only good thing about this particular Extended Stay is that the staff was friendly & it's in a pretty good location - Wendover Ave. From this experience, I would not recommend this hotel to my worse enemy.
I was a little leary of this hotel after reading other reviews, but I found my room to be very clean and well stocked for the type of hotel it is. Just don't expect your normal hotel amenities....no ice, but near-fullsized frig. helped here with it's freezer. Hand and bath towels were furnished, but wash clothes were not. My only negative comment was the small TV with no remote...a little annoying, but I managed. Wifi is available for $4.99 a week, but I was only there one night, so they gave it to me for free. The location was perfect for me...no exceptionally noisy things going on...maybe it was the time of the year for the next door amusement park, but I heard nothing and the park is open year-round. I would probably stay here again. While the hotel is showing it's age, I was comfortable here.
