Check your reservations at least 3 times!!!!
One weekend a year a group of friends travel from Seattle area to East Wenatchee on thier motorcycles. This has become a Memorial Ride for one of the original members Shane Wyrsche, a forest service law enforcement agent who was killed by DUI 1 1/2 years ago. The group has traditionally stayed at Cedars Inn and this was my 2nd stay here.
Last year went without incident, but this year was a fiasco! I originally booked the room for Friday & Saturday nights August 15-16 online through Travelnow.com via Entertainment.com back in February. I called on Wednesday to confirm my reservation for that Friday.
The receptionist proceeded to tell me that they had a reservation for me but only for Friday night only. I said there must be some mistake, she checked again & said no, they had only 1 night reserved. I told her I needed Saturday night as well per my original reservation, but I was told this wasn't possible as all the rooms were booked up due to a Tom Petty concert nearby that weekend.
I was horrified! I went back to seek my original email confirmation but was unable to find it. I sent e-mail to travelnow.com's customer service (the finally responded 1 WEEK AFTER MY RESERVATION!!) I called around & found a motel that just opened up 2 rooms after a remodel, that was close to the Cedars Inn,so I made a reservation for Saturday night there.
I told my best friend to check on his reservation, so he called and was told they had 2 nights reserveed for him.
After riding 300 miles on our motorcycles in 100 degrees we arrived to check in. The clerk Gladys handed me sign in sheet with $220 on it. I asked why I was being charged $220 for 1 nights stay, she said my reservation was for 2 nights. I told her I called on a Wednesday and was told my reservation was only 1 night & made another reservation at other hotel based on this information and regardless of my staying at the other motel, I would be charged.
She said she was sorry and that she would not charge me for the Saturday night. Being road weary, I told her I understood her that she would allow me to stay 2 nights at Cedars Inn and only charge me for 1 night. She said, "No, we will cancell Sat night here and you can stay at the other motel."
I told her my group was staying there & it was inconveniant for me to go to other motel when indeed I had reservation for 2 nights after all. She just shrugged her shoulders. She made no offer to compensate me for paying for 2 nights at 2 motels because of thier mis information to me! Ufffff!
As all of this is going on my best friend trys to check in. But then the second clerk tells him they have no records of his reservation! He gave them the reservation # and after 2 people looking on 2 computers for 15 minutes, they finally found it.
However, they weren't sure the room was actually available! The clerk had to go up to the room and make sure it wasn't occuppied! She came down & said "we'll just give you this room" I couldn't help but think some poor guy that came later missed out on a room!
The motel itself is nice enough, fairly clean, quiet, and a good breakfast buffet, & close to a couple of resturants/bars, but after our experience the group as a whole is thinking about changing motels.
If you make reservations, make sure you keep your number and reconfirm at least twice!!!
