My family and I stayed at the Americinn in Hayward, WI and were eaten alive by bed bugs. Two of us sustained 70-80 bites and three of us had a few bites. When I advised the manager she said "nope, no bed bugs, we had it inspected and our inspector told us there were none." No reputable inspector can tell you a bed bug problem is 100% exterminated, they can weave into a tiny place and come out only at night to feed and can live up to 6 months without feeding. If you look into bed bugs on the inet you find out very quickly how hard & expensive it is to actually get rid of them. Peoples lives have been turned upside down by these bugs. Now my family has been exposed not knowing if we unwillingly carrier them into our home which costs thousands of dollars to get rid of. When we arrived at the hotel there was someones left overs still in our fridge, we pulled out he sofa bed and the sheets had not been changed. This is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. I am in pain from the bed bug bites covering my body as well as my mother and they have provided no compensation. We went to have a fun weekend of snowmobiling and are now living in a nightmare. USE CAUTION AND READ UP ON BED BUGS BEFORE STAYING HERE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have stayed at the Americ-Inn in Hayward, Wisconsin this past weekend, March 16-18, 2007. I was told that there was a management change and thought our stay would be "bumpy". I was mistaken. The staff was very, very helpful from the point of making our reservation to the time of checkout. Kathy and Jessica were extremely helpful with aiding us with auto problems. They went out of their way on a busy checkout day and over extended themselves in trying to help us. I was very impressed with the amount that they both have gone to to ensure that we got the help we needed to get home. I ahve looked at past reviews and can say that they are a bit "exaggerated" to say the least. We did not have any problems even though there were hockey teams that we thought would be noisy and uncontrollable. Our stay was pleasant even though we had vehicle trouble. Whatever we asked of the staff, they did all that they could to help in every way. That alone, makes us want to come back. Our room was clean and did not have that "closed up" smell that some motels have. We checked in early and were greeted upon entry. Our room was not yet ready but the housekeeping staff stopped what they were doing to accomodate us and they dropped what they were doing and got our room ready for us. I was very impressed with this staff. Breakfast area, although minimal, was kept very clean and stocked. With the busy weekend, they kept things clean...again..impressive!! We would recommend this motel to anyone just because of the friendliness and ever willing to help staff taht is working there. KUDOS!!! We will be back!!
