Constant Source of Aggravation
I just got back from a week's stay at this hotel with my wife and three small kids (ages 4, 2 and 4 months). The hotel was a never-ending series of aggravating episodes and we will never go back there.
1) There's NO laundry service of any kind offered by the hotel! When you travel with small kids, you have a lot of laundry to do. I was told by the front desk that if I wanted to do laundry, I had to either use the washer/dryer at the Days Inn 2 blocks away or go to a laundromat on 71st Street, 2 1/2 miles away! Insane. I've stayed in $49 a night truck stops that have laundry self-service. This was a constant source of irritation for me.
2) On the day we arrived, February 21, we were told that it would take 30 minutes to retrieve our car and it was 15 bucks a pop! Crazy. By the day we left, February 26, that was bumped up to one hour. We parked on the street using meters every night starting on the second night of our stay. Fortunately, we only got one parking ticket, but it was only 18 bucks, and at least we didn't have the big delay in getting our car.
3) The continental breakfast was way too expensive ($9.75) for what was offered. Most annoying was their refusal to allow us to buy two cups of coffee without paying the full $9.75. Our only other option was a coffee machine in the lobby that charged $1 for a five ounce cup of lousy coffee. One morning, I came down at 7 am to buy coffee at that machine, only to find that it was out of milk and sugar. The front desk told me that the restaurant was in charge of the machine and I would have to see the restaurant manager.
4) The elevators were slow as molasses.
5) The water pressure in our bathroom was lousy. The toilet had to be flushed at least twice to get everything down.
Overall, I found that the front desk would not help you with most things, always passing the buck to someone else. Do not stay at this hotel.
