Nice hotel - not my top choice
My friends and I stayed at the Riverfront Hotel a few weeks before Mardi Gras.
When we arrived, the valet service and doorman were very nice and helpful. They allowed us to park our cars to unload our things and then later come back to move them to the garage to avoid the $28 valet fee. When we checked in, the person at the front desk was helpful but made some rude comments about how we were "silly girls" to come for Mardi Gras.
The room was very clean and comfortable. However, the setup of the hotel is very confusing. It's built like a semi-circle, with the elevator on only one end of the circle. We had the room the farthest away and it was definitely not an easy walk with all of our luggage.
The location of the hotel is very convenient to Harrah's Casino, the Riverfront, and the Convention Center. The shuttle was not running during our stay due to the parades but we felt very safe walking from the casino to the hotel because the walkway behind the hotel is very well lit.
We transferred to Harrah's Hotel for our last night, and the service staff downstairs was very helpful. A gentleman loaded all of our luggage onto a cart and walked with us down to the other hotel. He offered to do this without even being asked.
I would stay there again, but it's not my top choice of hotels in the area.
