I reserved two beds not one!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/10
I booked a room with two beds, 5 in our group. When we checked in we found one bed and a fold out couch, they were full, so they offered a reduced rate and we stayed. After I got home I found out they charged my card twice, screwing me out of the great reduced rate they had given me.I will never stay here again.

Stay away from Marriott
By Paul, 2/15/06
I made a reservation (3 nights) to stay at this hotel 4 months in advance. The reason I chose it was because it's very close to the World Conference Center (where my meetings were located). When I arrived (2pm), they told me they were overbooked and were sending me to a hotel 14 miles away (Best Western). I told them this was unacceptable...I didn't rent a car and I needed to be near the conference center. A guy behind me said he could help. He was checking in and said his boss didn't make the trip and would cancel his reservation...so I could have the room. The counterperson said I couldn't have the room because it they have to give it to a Platinum member (they give Platinum members priority over everyone...so if you're not a Platinum member, you are never guaranteed a room no matter how far in advance you make the reservation). I asked to speak to the manager about this. The counterperson said he is out of the hotel. I called Marriott Customer Care...while I'm on hold, I see another counterperson and ask him if the manager was in (this is 10 min. after I asked the last person). He said the manager was in and took my paperwork in the back office. He came back and said the manager was "busy" and couldn't talk to me. It was clear the manager was a dodging angry customers like myself (there were several of us and more showing up to check in). Their first offer was to pay for one night at their expense and told me to take the train into town since I didn't have a car. I told them this wasn't acceptable. They ended up agreeing to pay for 2 nights hotel and paying for one cab ride back/forth per day to the conference center. After Marriott Customer Care couldn't get anywhere with them (I heard them outright lie to the Customer Care rep.), I accepted their offer and stowed my luggage with a friend at Hyatt. The battle wasn't over. Apparentally, they didn't realize the cab ride was a $40 tab each way. They reneged on their offer after the first day. Everytime there was resistance, it took a call to a supervisor at home before they'd pay the cabbie. Finally, they just said they wouldn't pay it anymore. Between that and the lie about the manager being in his office, it was clear these people lacked any sense of integrity. Now, I'm not normally one to whine and I understand that "things happen"...what separates the great companies from the poor ones is how they respond when "things happen". I've been traveling for business and pleasure for 25 years...to every state in the US and several countries and have never been treated so poorly by a hotel in the last 25 years. So congratulations Marriott....you are only the second organization in 25 years that I have put on my "black" list that I will absolutely not give one penny of my business to again in my lifetime (the first was Payless rental car about 6 years ago and I've stayed true to my word). To potential customers, just remember....at Marriott, a reservation isn't a reservation. Your trip can be turned upside down and you have to battle with them to hold them accountable and even then you'll be treated like a second-class citizen.

Top 5 Best Hotel Experience Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/05
We travel a lot and usually expect a hotel with a rate of under $100/night to meet minimum expectations. This hotel was wonderful! The staff was a delight, the room was more than expected- it was bright and cheerful with a full kitchen (inc. all supplies), the bed comfortable with plenty of pillows and the bathroom clean with better than usual towels. The breakfast included with the room was great-eggs, bacon, grits, waffles and all the usual cold danish/cereal fare. There is no bar or resturant at this location and this area of Atlanta lacks a lot of other resturants/bars in walking area, but the MARTA stop is right across the street and just as convient and safe as advertised.

Not a fan of the Atlanta Residence Inn
By Dana, 9/9/04
I had a consulting assignment and had the 'opportunity' to spend some time at the Atlanta Residence Inn. I was not at all pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel. The elevators had a constant weird oder and the carpet in the rooms and elevator were extremely dirty. The furniture in the rooms is not something I would let me kids sit on. I know they were doing some pretty significant upgrades to the hotel near the end of my stay, so all of this may not be applicable now.
