An unfortunate experience
By Horace, 7/31/08
After arriving and discovering the view, for which we paid an extra $30 per day, was half blocked by a spruce tree, I went to the main desk to ask why the refrigerator we were expecting was not in the room. The day manager asked, "Is that an issue?" Not being sure how to respond, I decided not to push it; after all, we did have an ice bucket. The next day we were gone at 5 am and returned at 8:30 to find room service had not entered our room. We complained to the night manager who offered a fridge and to have the room cleaned. As we were to be up at 5 am the next day and were leaving when we returned from rafting, it seemed pointless. All requests for compensation were declined, but we were thanked for bringing it to the attention of management so the next guest would not experience the same problems. Glad we could be so helpful. I might add we went to the Mountineer Grill for breakfast at 6 am of our first day. It was the worst excuse for a "hot buffet" I have ever experienced. All the "hot" food dishes were cold; I gather they are only replaced when they are consumed, which in this case would be a very long time. Janis Joplin at a load volume did not lend to the ambiance. There are a variety of other lodging options in the area--I would advise learning about them and avoiding Denali Bluffs.

Room for Improvement
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/06
The first room they tried to put us in was dirty, hot, and had a nasty smell. And, it was a double bed. After explaining the room was unacceptable, we were given a MUCH nicer, cleaner room with a king bed. However, there was a plate of half-eaten food left in the refrigerator. I promptly returned the plate and its contents to the front desk. They did apologize for the inconvenience. The location is inconvenient because there is no direct connection to the tour busses. The hotel will shuttle you down to the local traffic light, but then we had to walk about 1/4 mile to pick up the tour bus at another hotel.

An Average Hotel
By Sarah H, 8/3/05
This was an "ok" hotel. Their service was lacking in every aspect, from their porter breaking the wheel off our luggage, to the wait staff waiting until they had served our party (of 17) to let my aunt know that they were out of her requested dish. The rooms were gloomy, our security device on the window was sheared off, and we had to go outside and get stick to wedge in the window. It was very close to the park entrance so that was very good, but we requested that our family sit together on the tour and we ended up being spread all over the bus. We will be back at Denali, but unless I am really worried about the budget I will probably try to go to a more upscale hotel.

Yes, I'm going back
By Margaret, 7/3/05
We did the typical trips in Danli, the bus tour and rafting, yet there is lots more to do there. I'd like to spend more time in the very nice little town and at the wonderful Danali Bluffs Hotel. The view is awesome, the people there are very friendly, the restuarant is excellent,

Horrible Service
By Susan, 6/27/05
While the location is good, the service at Denali Bluffs was horrendous. The check-in staff was rude and more concerned with gossiping than checking us in. We had to ask three people to order a simple box lunch and chase down the staff to fill out a simple form, and they still got the order wrong. Restaurant service was slow and rude. And, to add insult to injury, they sent our luggage to Fairbanks, instead of Anchorage. Do not stay here if you are looking for friendly, helpful staff. It was the worst experience of our trip by far.
