An unfortunate experience
After arriving and discovering the view, for which we paid an extra $30 per day, was half blocked by a spruce tree, I went to the main desk to ask why the refrigerator we were expecting was not in the room. The day manager asked, "Is that an issue?" Not being sure how to respond, I decided not to push it; after all, we did have an ice bucket.
The next day we were gone at 5 am and returned at 8:30 to find room service had not entered our room. We complained to the night manager who offered a fridge and to have the room cleaned. As we were to be up at 5 am the next day and were leaving when we returned from rafting, it seemed pointless. All requests for compensation were declined, but we were thanked for bringing it to the attention of management so the next guest would not experience the same problems. Glad we could be so helpful.
I might add we went to the Mountineer Grill for breakfast at 6 am of our first day. It was the worst excuse for a "hot buffet" I have ever experienced. All the "hot" food dishes were cold; I gather they are only replaced when they are consumed, which in this case would be a very long time. Janis Joplin at a load volume did not lend to the ambiance.
There are a variety of other lodging options in the area--I would advise learning about them and avoiding Denali Bluffs.
