Park Hotel, Amsterdam

This hotel seems to be set up for business travelers. The rooms are small, but the bed was very soft and comfortable. There's no Dutch charm in this place, but you can't beat the location, just off the Leidseplein and the Museumplein, across the street from a canal tour stop and tram stop 100 yards away. The staff was helpful, in a businesslike way. The bathroom is a little odd -- there is no shower door, so the water goes all over the bathroom. However, they do give you loads of big, absorbant towels, so just lay one on the floor as a bathmat and you'll do okay. Bring your own washcloth! None are provided. It's got some rooms just over the street, so you can sometimes hear the tram or traffic, but it was not a problem for us. The a/c works just fine, so you can keep the windows closed. One gripe -- there is an extra charge for breakfast and Internet, and both are outrageously high, so we went elsewhere for these services. Otherwise, it was a pleasant place to lay one's head while enjoying the city of Amsterdam.

1. The toilet gets flooded when you use the shower. 2. If you book online, and even if you have paid you city tax online, they would still claim that you haven't paid. 3. So far the worst 4 four stars hotel I have ever stayed with in Europe. Some 3 stars hotels are even better than Park Hotel. Among the 4/3 stars hotel I have stayed with are Amethyst Hotel in Prague, Apex International Hotel in Edinburgh, Birmingham City Centre Ramada Hotel, Suitehotel near Potsdamer Plats in Berlin, and Trinity Capital Hotel in Dublin. These hotels out perform Park Hotel in many ways (especially the service). 4. No hair dryer available when you ask the reception after 10pm. 5. Also, coffee and tea were not refilled.

This hotel was wonderful. We requested a canal view with a balcony and that's exactly what we got. It is right across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe, the Holland casino and the square which has Boom Chicago comedy club, restaurants, and some coffee shops. It is in a great locastion in the aspect that you are in a good part of town and that you can always hop right on the tram and go to the center where the red light district and all the other hundreds of shops are which to me was the less desireable place to stay. It's just too busy in the center. From the hotel you can also walk right down the street to the Heinekin Brewery. There is a huge park right beside the hotel and all the museums are right around the corner too. The room was very clean, the people were very friendly, and we ordered 24 hour room service 3 times at 3 in the morning. You couldn't ask for anything more. We will stay there next time too!

The service, location, and value of the Park Hotel on Yahoo cannot be beat. I've never written a review before, but I had to write one after my stay in March 2005 at the Park Hotel. Very leary to get a hotel off the internet, but not disapponted with the Park Hotel. All the staff was nice and very helpful, even helped me find a good club to go to on a Wednesday nite. Location can't be beat, right next to the main museums, tram line, canal, and bus tour station. Walking distance to all the main attractions. If you're a light sleeper, it can be a little noisy in the evening, but not bad. Overall, I highly recommend the Park Hotel.

If you don't mind the sounds of the city, this is the hotel you want to choose. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. The view was great! This hotel is close to everything you need!!!
