I would like to share my really unpleasant experience at the Beaumont Hotel. I stayed there 2 nights on May 25-27. I booked the room online, via expedia.fr for about 130 euros a night. This was my birthday's present. Given the ranking of the hotel (four stars) and the pictures displayed on the website, I thought I had found a good deal in this "boutique hotel"...
Well my experience was far far away from this... First of all, the concierge at the hotel barely talked to us (maybe because her English and/or French were really bad), gave us only one key for the room.... We then found out that our bedroom was located accross the street, in another building, the "Beaumont Residence", not the "Beaumont Hotel", which is what we paid for.
Except for the nice lobby (with no concierge... you had access to the building with your room pass), the building looked like a nice student residence. Our room was located on the 5th floor (no elevator) and the last stairway was so steep, I don't think an older person would have made it...
Then the room... NOTHING TO DO with the pictures. The carpet on the floor had a big brown stain, right in the middle of the room. Everything was white in the room, no decoration at all... except for the flat screen TV, only sign of the quality of the hotel. The furniture had probably been bought 15 years ago, at IKEA or something like that. There was no air conditioning and the bathroom was rather minimalist with a small shower and a pretty gross shower curtain.
The checkout was as unpleasant, not a single nice work from the employees.
I would highly suggest you pick another hotel if you plan to stay in Maastricht. I would recommend La Bergere, which is located across the street. The rooms are a little more expensive, but the place is definitely a design hotel and offers a great champagne breakfast for 19 euros.
I travelled a lot across the world, stayed in a lot of 4 star hotels and I can claim that the comfort of the hotel is barely worthy of a 3 star hotel in Africa! And by the way, there is no amenities provided by the hotel (pool, gym...) to offset the sad sad rooms.
