too many people smoking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/07
Disliked the smell of people smoking, the high price eating and drinking a phoney in the air of people thought they were something that they were not.

Number one in Rome!!!!!
By 말 리, 10/6/06
We recently stayed at The St Regis Grand and absolutely loved it! The room itself was a work of art...like a museum, the Hermes shampoos and soaps were our favorite! We asked for a crib for our baby and the linen was changed everyday with crisp linen with beautiful embroidery in blue for our boy!!! There was attention to even the smallest of details. There is also a personal butler service to help with your stay. Just superb...the best hotel that we've stayed in by far!!!

Beautiful, but a bit snobbish
My wife and I stayed here for about 5 nights in April. It is truly a wonderful hotel. People mentioned that the location is great. It is good in that it is in the city, but it is about a 20 minute walk to the downtown area or Spanish Steps. Most of the nicer hotels are similar distances out. Easy walk or metro is around the corner. The service was good but a couple of times we used the desk for help we were surprised by the attitude (dinner one night, entertainment the other). Overall it was fantastic place to stay.

Very nice.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/06
This was the best Westin hotel we stayed in while in Italy(out of 3). It had all the modern luxuries and conveniences, like internet and seperate shower, but managed to not feel like an American hotel. The room was beautiful, it had a fresca above the bed and had a very nice bathroom. The location was also pretty close to major sights...pricey, but highly recommend.

Wonderful service...will definitely go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/10
This hotel was excellent! At first we were booked in one of those small, supposedly "quaint" hotels, which turned out to be falling apart. So we did something crazy and booked it to the St. Regis. It was TOTALLY worth every penny. Sure its expensive but the rooms are beautiful and clean, the service is outstanding, and the breakfast buffet is insanely delicious. The people working there are so very friendly, I would go back to that hotel in a heartbeat. They are just so helpful! Always someone waiting for you in the dining room or front door to help you out. They also gave us some good suggestions when touring. A lovely hotel kind of out of the way, not exactly in the center of Rome, but close enough to walk or go by taxi to the nearest attractions. Shopes near by too. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want a luxurious and restful stay in Roma!

Great place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/06
I did not dislike a thing about it except that the location was not extremely perfect but convenient enough to get around. It had very luxurious rooms with butler service that made your stay one of the best. The food was excellent. I reccomend asking for Fettucine Alfredo even though it is not on the menu. Trust me, it's a rich taste of Heaven. The bathrooms were splendid from the marble and chandeleir decorations. The room was always extremely clean after a day of sightseeing and there would be a dessert assortment in your room as well. One night they came with free wine and cheese. This is an older hotel with modern ammentities, especially in the rooftop fitness center with modern excersise equipment and t.v.'s. If you are going to Rome, stay at the St. Regis Grand if you are willing to pay for it because it is very expensive but well worth it.

wanna go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/07
Was their in April 2007, which I think is absolute best time to go, hotel staff were excellent. I thought the hotel had lost a piece of my laundry, the manager told me to purchase new and the hotel would reimburse. I later found the piece hanging in my closet (my mistake). Our room was fantastic. Will definitely return

I'll stay here again!
By sgt. L, 8/28/06
The location is the best seeminly in the middle of all the main attraction, walking distance to almost everything. Great rooms, loved the chocolates! I now get my chocolate sent from Italy.I prepaid my stay, they asked for a credit card for incedentals( dry cleaning, mini bar), instead of just a couple hundred dollars of reserve, they reserved our entire credit limit was reserved, making it so we couldn't use it. They did make an attepmt to fix the problem but failed. We used another card for our large purchase.

Great home base!
The St. Regis is a beautiful, quiet hotel located on the edge of the city. Even without a central location, we walked to EVERYTHING, except took taxis to the Vatican (this while I was 5 months pregnant). The staff was excellent, upgrading our room upon arrival. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful, too. Hotels are just plain expensive in Europe, which is why I downgraded the value category.

This hotel has the perfect combination of luxury and comfort. Beautiful guest rooms with very comfortable mattresses. Service was superb from all staff members. Would highly recommend this as the top pick in Rome.
