Splendid Rome

This hotel was a life saver from an internet booking which left us in Rome with no-where to stay.
The Staff were calm, relaxed and very accommodating - all spoke English with just a hint of reserve.
The fantastic location, at the top of a long gentle sloping street, ensured a multitude of restaurants on the way 'home' each night. The Underground station was at the bottom of the street, tickets bought from a newspaper kiosk BEFORE entering the station - it's the Italian way.
Our extremely spacious room faced the back of the hotel so it was very quiet. Our view was just 30 feet from the ancient city wall, inhabited as lately as the 1960's we think, because we could make out radiators through the broken windows. Abandoned lemon trees still grow on the wall's terrace 4 storeys above the street.
Do I have any complaints about the Grand Flora? Just one. The Italians are a nation of coffee drinkers - they simply DON'T DO tea.
Tea from room service was always cold, and if we requested hot water in a flask, the water was so tainted with coffee, as to make the tea undrinkable.
Did it taint our holiday?
Not in the least.
