Wedding reception at The Mariott Grand Hotel Flora
By ,
We recently had our wedding reception at The Mariott Grand Hotel Flora. It was the most perfect location and all of our guests commented on how great the view was from the Rooftop Terrace where our reception was held. The staff were amazing and the service we recieved was excellent. If you are thinking of having a wedding reception here or a party or you just want to stay at a really good hotel that provides excellent service then I would highy recommend this hotel- you will not be dissapointed.

Memorible beginning to a gorgeous city
By ,
We came to Rome to kick off our fortieth anniversary vacation. We stayed three nights at the Flora. It is so close to many of the main attractions that walking is the best alternative (even for older travelers). Our first evening we were very tired and chose to eat in the hotel restaurant. The service from the server and her helper, the bread, the very good local wine and to every perfectly prepared and presented course were wonderful. We struck up conversation and it made the entire meal a great memory. Donatella and Ivando were great. The desk staff is very classy. They are helpful, especially if you know what you want. The rooms are small as many are in Europeon hotels, but very nicely appointed. It was a joy on each of our outings to return to the Flora and the friendliness of the doorman, the staff, and the comfortible ambience of the lobby. Mornings and breakfast were a special treat from the great array of various foods to the incredible panorama from the restaurant's outside patio. It costs some money to be sure, but it is securing to know that you are in a very nice place that is safe and can meet all of your needs. Definitely a return destination when in Roma.

great location, service should improve
By ,
The location is great, just a two minutes stroll from the Spanish Steps and other great landmarks. The exterior of the hotel is beautiful and the rooms are well designed and of good standard. Having experienced great service at other Marriott hotels, my expectations where high before arriving at the "Flora". Unfortunately, the level of service could have been much better. When I arrived my room was not ready, and I had to wait in the lobby for two hours before I could check inn. When I finally got into my room my luggage was missing. It took another 30 minutes before they managed to deliver it to my room. I can appreciate that mistakes can take place, but the staff did not seem to think that this was a problem and told me that they had a lot to do. Just a little empathy (or a free drink) would have made me happy... The language skills of the staff were poor. Not being able to speak Italian, I had trouble ordering room service and arranging transportation to the airport. If they staff were trained in service skills (and perhaps sent to a language course) I would highly recommend this place. But my stay was disappointing and I will not choose Marriott for my next stay in Rome. Which I think is unfortunate, especially given the great location and nice surroundings.

Beautiful & Very Friendly
By ,
Wonderful Hotel, we were very pleased. We stayed here for 3 nights during July 2006. From Doorman to Front Desk to restaurant waitstaff... everyone was helpful, kind, and completely unphased by our poor attempts at Italian. We stayed in the hotel on Marriott "points" which generally guanrantees the smallest rooms. Ours was not large, but beautifully appointed with a larger than expected ceramic/marble bathroom with separate shower & bath. We have occasionally felt a bit second-class when using our points during travel but that was not at all the case here. The location is very close to the Villa Borghese and Spanish steps with surrounding shopping area. Coliseum, Forum and surrounding sites are not a bad walk - maybe 15-20 minutes, but metro stop is very close if you prefer. We loved it!

good hotel, bad service
By ,
Clean and good located, but bad service and ugly ambiente of the breakfast buffet. We stayed there for three nights during our engagement. - Wait 20 minutes and remind 3 times and you get your coffee in the morning. At least 1/3 of the buffet is always empty. - TV defect - Flowers not delivered to the room ... If you expect and pay for a 4 star hotel, this one is definitely not the right choice. better choose the Westin on via Veneto

Delightful end to a wonderful trip
By ,
We spent two weeks in the Tuscany area and arrived by train around 1:30 in the afternoon for our last night in Italy. We took a short cab ride to the hotel and settled in. The staff was well trained, gracious and helpful. The Spanish Steps are within walking distance. Across the street is Harry's Bar, always a fun place to visit. The Via Vento was a delight to explore. Couldn't have been more pleased!

I soooo want to go back!
By ,
I can't help but recall such wonderful times in Rome - and this hotel was all part of them. Convenient to many landmarks and attractions, yet elegant and charming in guest appeal, the Marriott Grand Hotel Flora offers the best of both worlds to all guests. I loved staying here and having the flexibility to walk to nearby attractions. Of course, everyone in Rome walks everywhere anyway - something we Americans should do more often. Watch out for the traffic though. . .those little cars really zip in and out quickly. In other words, don't stand too close to the curb! The hotel staff was well-trained, professional, and helpful at all times. My room was servicable, yet elegant. You can't go wrong staying here for convenience with class. I highly reccommend it and I'd go back in a New York minute.

Splendid Rome
By ,
This hotel was a life saver from an internet booking which left us in Rome with no-where to stay. The Staff were calm, relaxed and very accommodating - all spoke English with just a hint of reserve. The fantastic location, at the top of a long gentle sloping street, ensured a multitude of restaurants on the way 'home' each night. The Underground station was at the bottom of the street, tickets bought from a newspaper kiosk BEFORE entering the station - it's the Italian way. Our extremely spacious room faced the back of the hotel so it was very quiet. Our view was just 30 feet from the ancient city wall, inhabited as lately as the 1960's we think, because we could make out radiators through the broken windows. Abandoned lemon trees still grow on the wall's terrace 4 storeys above the street. Do I have any complaints about the Grand Flora? Just one. The Italians are a nation of coffee drinkers - they simply DON'T DO tea. Tea from room service was always cold, and if we requested hot water in a flask, the water was so tainted with coffee, as to make the tea undrinkable. Did it taint our holiday? Not in the least.
