very disappointing
By ,
Rhodes is exceptional. This hotel, however, is horrible. Arogant staff, extremely uncomfortable beds, food was so so, a lot of noise coming into the room from the common areas. In short, badly managed. The only good aspect of this hotel is its location - it's a walking distance from both the old town and the new. Overall, recommend to go elsewhere.

Well located but not clean and service not good.
By ,
I liked the place where it is located, the rooms are big but the cleaning of the room was very poor. there was only one vase for washing tooth, sometimes there were no towel neither toillet paper in the room. No towel for the floor of the bathroom and the recepcionists are generally not nice and not helpful.

Det er et dårlig 4 stjerners hotell.
By ,
Slurvete og stygg oppussing over store deler av hotellet. Styr unna dette hotellet!!! Det er ikke verdt pengene...:(

The hotel was great cant wiat to go back.
By ,
I have just returned from a week stay at this hotel and i have got to say is was great. Was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews before i went but i dont know hat they were talking about. I went with Thomas cook at the end of july and it was well worth it. Weather was great very hot, but because the hotel is right on the beach there is a breezy. The hotel is in a great spot right on the beach. Hotel lovely and clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Had a pool view which was amazing and the rooms and big and cleaned every day. Food is great breafast is a buffet with lots of choice, something to suit everyone. The chinese and italian are great well worth a visit and no extra charge. The buffet at night is also very good again with lots of choice. The drinks are not cheap, buts lots of bars around the hotel with lots to offer. The pools are big and the warm is very refreshing and there is lots of sunbeds no need to put your towel out early in the morning to get a bed. The staff around the pools are very helpful and always happy to help. There is lots to do with the beach right on your door step and shops and bars just round the corner. You are only a 15 walk away from the old town which is also well worth a visit. Cait wait to go back, will be going back next year at some point one of the best hotels i have stayed in. Would certainly go back
By ,
Booked two weeks at the Grand via Thomas Cook for June 2008.Having then read the mixed reviews had some doubts. However we found the Hotel, friendly, efficient and clean.Breakfasts (buffet style) were great and the Chinese and Italian restaurants (no extra charge) were very good. Main dinner buffet style good but not special and wines from 15 euros a bit pricey for a cheap wine. Three pools v good .Bit cold at times but clean and no probs.Free loungers and umbrellas. Room a good size overlooking reception roof but sea views great from balcony.Plenty of wardrobe space and fridge useful.Close to Town centre with nice walks to Old Town. All in all good value for money and we would certainly go back.

Good Bargan
By ,
Stayed here with an oceanfront room on an upper floor with half-board, a few weeks prior to the high tourist season. I could not have been more pleased with the location, the service and the multi-lingual staff--many went from Greek to German to English in the same conversation. The breakfast could not be beat. The only downside I could say is the drinks were a little pricy at dinner (13 EU for a bottle of house wine) I would stay here again.

I enjoyrd everything about the Grand from the history and the food and the location. The main lounge with the Piano player and the log fire was an exceptional touch and I will be back soon for another visit. Kindest regards, Paul Hitchmoug Liverpool uk

Great Food Great Pools!
By ,
In the taxi we passed some pretty awful hotels. Not knowing what to expect we were impressed arriving at the Grand Mitsus Hotel. We had a last minute deal and our room had a view of teh roof over the entrance. However we did have a little balcony and the room was a good size. The bathroom was a little old and the decor was a little basic however we knew to expect lower 5 start standards in Greece. The buffet is very good. The two restaurants were excellent. The Asian and Italian restaurants - i would recomend booking in first thing in the morning as they only take bookings on a day to day basis. If you are there whilst the sun sets - they open the blinds so you can see it. If your room has a view over the sea then i would recomend finding out what time sunset is and then going down for dinner - very romantic. The hotel is in a quiet spot but very close to Rhodes Old town - an easy 15 minute wonder on a hot day. We hired a car and went to Antony QUinn bay - a LOVELY cove! Would thoroughly recomend it. It was busy and crampt in August with loads of Italian and Greek holiday makers posing in the sea playing frisbee. But this almost added to the charm! My partner who is a swimmer loved swimming out to the edge of the cove - take your lilo or airmatress to float on the sea and take snorkling gear :-) There is a cafe there and you rent sun loungers for 7 euros i think. Its about an hour drive? From Rhodes. We hired a car from the man in the hotel. He was very good and suggested another sandy beach a bit further from the bay. Also Lindos is another sight not to be missed. Great for shopping for greek vases. You must go into the museum/ruins as there is a good view from the top. They had a good light show in Old Rhodes TOwn at the Castle - something about St John. They have boat trips to Symi going from Rhodes town and you can even visit turkey for the day to go rug buying. We will do this next time wego. We are going back in September as we were so impressed last time and it will be very easy! Hotel was quite close to Airport - can't have been more than a 20 minute drive. You pay for your drinks after you have had dinner as they are not included if you have half board. The pools - one salt water one chloring - again my swimming partner was very impressed. Sun loungers around the pools were nice. In August there were some germans putting towels down but we tried to join in too! The pebbly beach across the road from the hotel is good for the odd swim. But nicer beaches are a little drive down teh road. The driving was a little hairy around Rhodes Town but actually, we found it very easy once we got on the main road out of town. Also the greek night was very good- drank Ouzo and had a dance. Despite the very hot evening the dancers had full costumes on and got us involved. The nightlife is not far - just around the block. There is an internet cafe on your walk into the main town. Rhodes old town has many lovely shops. We really enjoyed it and will be going back.

Grand Hotel Mitsis
By ,
The hotel is well situated, for the old town area, and is of a good standard, but not English 5 star standard, so if you dont expect that, you wont be disappointed. Our room overlooked the gardens and main pool and was spacious, the furniture was practical, and there was more than sufficient storage space. Its was cleaned daily. As far as the food is concerned, only really fussy people will be unable to find something on the buffet to satisfy their hunger. As an alternative to the buffet there are the served chinese and italian restaurants. The menus are limited in both restaurants, however everything is freshly cooked to order, so they are nice alternatives to the buffet. Overall this is a nice hotel and we believe we had value for money. I would recommend it.
