My stay there was great except for...
By ,
The Churchill is a great hotel in a great location close to the Marble Arch and Hyde Park and some of the best shopping in London on Oxford Street and close to the nightlife of SoHo. There are a variety of good little restaurants close by off Wigmore Street that offer many types of cuisine that won't cost you a small fortune to sample and enjoy. If you understand how the bus and tube system operates you can actually get to other places in London much faster and at much less expense than taking a cab. As such, the Churchill is close to both the Marble Arch tube station and the main bus lines on Oxford St. (east and west) and Gloucester Place (north) and Park Lane (south). The service and Hotel staff were excellent and my room and bath were as clean and comfortable as any I have ever stayed in. Having said that, I did not think it was a good value because 1) the hotel was undergoing renovation which meant construction noise and workers during the day, which I was not expecting or warned of. 2) the view from my room was of catwalks and scaffolds and a dreary inner courtyard of bricks and tar roofs 3) the hotel didn't offer any amenities or discounts to make up for these shortcomings. For the price of a room at the Churchill I expected better and would not stay there again while they are undergoing renovations unless they offered me something to compensate for the construction noise and dreary window views.

Hyatt Recency

The first night we stayed there, we had a mouse in our room eating the mini bar and running around. We called for another room, and immediatly got another room. The staff is really nice, and very helpfull. The only thing that we weren't satisfied about, was the bathroom; the bathtowels had hairs on them.Yuk!

A bit of old world without the stuffiness
By ,
Hotel is a sort of old world London hotel in terms of its decor and the attire of its staff. Not a modern or contemporary design. Staff is fantastic and the location is wonderful. You are located near the heart of London and can easily walk to Oxford St, Piccadily Circus and other central London attractions. A bit on the pricy side, but any hotel in this category is. Good for the business traveller as well as the vacationer. The concierge here has always been very helpful and adept at securing tickets, restaurant reservations, limos, etc.
