Not what we expected!
By ,
We were given a room at the side of the building which was cramped. No sweet sleeper bed I am afraid. This is not the high end quality hotel that you see in the photographs. Really needs to be brought up to date as the carpet, furnishings etc. are very dated. Good point-guest services.

Lovely location; comfortable room
By ,
We stayed at the Park Lane hotel in October 2007, and had a pleasant experience. The location is wonderful; it is situated on Piccadilly in Mayfair and right across from Green Park. The tube is a short walk from this hotel, and you will be in close proximity to Hyde Park, Green Park, Buckingham Palace, Hard Rock Cafe, and some very elegant shops. Our room was quite comfortable. Unlike many European hotel rooms, we (a family of 3)were not cramped, and the bed was very very comfortable. We had a large bathroom with both a shower and an old-fashioned tub. The staff was friendly and always helpful. I did not have the opportunity to have tea in the Palm Court, however, I walked through it several times and found it to be quite elegant. Food at the hotel's Citrus restaurant was tasty. All in all, we had a nice stay at this place, and particularly enjoyed its great location.

NOT a four star hotel
By ,
This hotel seems like it should be a four or five star hotel. But it is a somewhat tired Three and a half Star hotel. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are large (by London standards). Another good point, the staff is very nice and was helpful. But the rooms and common areas are in need of a remodel and the lobby seems like an after thought (its located off an alley street, not on Piccadilly). One more major plus - the hotel is located very close to the Green Park tube station and the nearby area is full of small pubs and resturants (go towards Berkley Square from the hotel). You can also get to Piccadilly Circus after a short walk. There was wireless available for a GBP18 a day. This is not a bad place to stay, but dont think you are staying in a four or five star hotel if you book this hotel.

Classic Elegence
By ,
So, I stayed here in the summer of '04. The hotel was beautiful, the service was great, and it was located near both the Hard Rock cafe in one direction, and Piccadilly Circus in another. I made my reservation with an employee discount, so I can't really vouch for the value of the full price, but it was definetely more than I would expect for the price I paid. The only part of the hotel that I found a bit awkward was the main entrance, which forces you to walk through the 'Palm Court' area, a restaurant/bar type of setting (complete with piano and harp) to get to the elevators or reception. This is fine when you're going out and are well dressed, but its elegance can make you a bit self conscience when you're walking in in jeans and a t-shirt after a day of sight-seeing. Otherwise the hotel was great. I would definetely stay there again.

The best of London Hotels
By ,
With Green Park across the street, view of Buckingham Place, and just down the street from the 1st Hard Rock Cafe. Walking to the best shopping in London. The service was the best I have every had at a hotel. Loved every monment I was there and never wanted to leave. I had just departed Kuwait City, Kuwait and had one of the best times of my life.

My recent stay at the Park Lane in London was far short of the standards reasonably expected of a 5 Star Hotel. Here's a short list of shortcomings: leftover food in the mini-bar from a previous guest, then not removed from the room and left all day after I took it out and left it on the top of the mini-bar with a note that it wasn't mine, and needed to be tossed out; dirty glasses not removed on two occasions; dirty cleaning rags (not towels) left in the bathroom; several different types of bugs and flies in the room and bathroom, which badly needed to be sprayed (and one of which bit me on the ear while I slept, causing minor swelling for a couple of days after I left); a tie stain not removed after it was sent to dry cleaning (which was easily removed by my routine cleaner upon my return); the failure to accomodate my request for a high speed internet connection, and the persistent loss of wireless antenna connections after a few minutes of service which caused me to lose my connection deposits on 9 occasions the first two days of my stay; the failure to accomodate my request for an early check-in which caused rescheduling of business meetings. As for the later, that was understandable as I was appropriately forewarned that my executive level room might not be available upon my early (10AM)check-in. However, I was promised the room by 11 AM, and didn't get checked in until 11:45 AM, further delaying meetings I had previously postponed an hour.

As you might imagine, I will not be returning to the Park Lane given my recent experience. At $4,400 for a 9 day stay, I expected more from a 5 Star property.
