Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury, London

Very clean, nice, quiet, friendly place. One short block from Russell Square tube (the best tube station in my view). Shortcomings: no wash cloths (ever), no pop machine, no ice machine, no telephone book, no "in this hotel" book, no laundry (but laundry is down the block about 1 block). Free paper, nice bar, pretty lobby, 24 hr desk. BAD: desk clerks not knowledgable about transport - told us no busses ran at night when they do-(critical to know since tubes stop running at midnight). Other than that, helpful. TV has 6 or 7 channels, one in french, one Dubai, one fragmented without sound, and the others all good. Small trash cans. Not as "in the zone" as Piccadilly or Leicester Square, but that is a blessing. Quiet at night, near Brit Museum, Petrie, etc. Local, neighborhood feeling. Overall very good

I spent two awful nights in this hotel, the actual hotel was nice, the food was ok, the breakfast was excellent, however the rooms were way too hot, the air conditioning seemed only to work if you held the button down. I went in November so God knows what it'd be like in the summer. Oh and the street noise was so loud you were woken up at 4 in the morning by very noisy bin men etc.... so you couldn't have the windows open. Having said that, the staff were very nice and helpful, I was there on business and the conference facilities were excellent.

Stayed only only one night but found the twin room spotlessly clean (in fact never stayed in a cleaner one!). Comfortable with everything one would need. The breakfast was self service and a large choice, rolls fresh which makes a change and coffee and tea served with a smile. All in all excellent value for money.

I gave this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 for one reason only. Three nights we left wake up calls. The first came an hour early but we could live with that. The second two came not at all and could have been very costly since they were to wake us for nonrefundable tours paid for in advance. Luckily my sister has problems staying asleep and happened to be awake at the time we needed to be getting up...LOL

I'd read bad reviews on the restaurant there so we didn't risk it. We did have a few meals in the hotel's Irish pub and were quite happy with the food and prices. The room was clean, quiet, comfy, and though smaller than American rooms they were larger than most places I've seen photos of in London. You have cable TV (their version), an electric kettle for coffee or tea (provided), a trouser press, hair drier and a mini fridge in the room. We had a "family room" for 3 adults, which was a double bed and a fold out sofa. A Pillow Menu in the room let you call house keeping and order whichever one you liked to sleep on. They were delivered promptly with a smile.

The staff was friendly and willing to help when needed, but the wake up call system just fell through, at least for us. I don't know if others had this problem. I didn't get to take it up with a manager because we were gone all during the day into the night bit I will email them about this to try and prevent someone in the future from having the same problem.

You're a minute from the Russell Square tube station on the Piccadilly line, little markets, maybe a 5 minute walk from the British Museum....central to everywhere. We booked through priceline with the airfare so I can't really give a price for the room since I haven't broken things down. All in all I would stay here again.
