Very Friendly Staff
By Arbgre555, 7/7/09
We had a very nice time at this Marriott. There were four of us and we had a suite. The hotel is on the Neckar River, but about 1 1/2 miles from "Old Town." It was, however, somewhat convenient to the A5. We found the staff very accommodating. Just be careful when buying water from the hotel. It is outrageously expensive (as it seems to be throughout Germany).

Clean, friendly, but poor location.
By AngelaO, 3/13/09
Marriott Heidelberg is a nice hotel. The hotel is just what you get at most nicer Marriott's in the States. Upon check-in we received a warm welcome and were delighted to be upgraded to their Executive floor. Our room offered views of the river and had a King size bed. We were traveling with our 4 year old son and they gladly wheeled in a bed for him. The room was very clean and the bedding was very comfortable. We had access to the Executive lounge that was stocked with coffee, tea, soft drinks, and a few small snacks. During busy season it looked like they serve additional food and drinks. Our rate of 104 Euros included an very expansive breakfast that was served in their restaurant overlooking the river. They even offered cook to order waffles. We also ate one night at their pub restaurant. Since it was low season, the main restaurant was closed. The pub food was very good and "ok" priced. The hotel had a nice size pool and exercise room. They also offer spa services. There is an underground parking garage at the hotel. My one big complaint about this hotel is the location. It is really removed from the main shopping area and the old Heidelberg area. The tram stop was only a couple of blocks away and it was a quick ride to the shopping area (you have to transfer to a bus to go to Old Heidelberg). I only saw two Indian restaurants in the area. To eat, it looked like, you either had to eat at the hotel restaurant or make the tram ride to the shopping area. Also the area that the hotel is in appeared to be on the edge of a good neighborhood, not in a good neighborhood. If I were to go back to Heidelberg I would look for a hotel closer to the shopping area.

Good, not great hotel
By James, 2/19/08
Pulling into the Heidelberg Marriott, I thought to myself "this place needs a make over". The decor is dated, rooms are bit shabby and the fixtures are scratched. However, the people are good; pleasant receptionists, accomodating waiters, polite housekeepers and everyone speaks English. The breakfast spread supports European and American tastes. Location can't be beat; close to the Autobahn, right on the river and walking distance to old town shops and restaurants. Ask for a room with a river view otherwise you are looking at a busy street or gas station. Hotel gym is nice, with plenty of equipment and is accessible 24 hours. For those doing business at SAP HQ, Marriott is a 20 min drive away. Stay here instead of Walldorf since there are more things to do in Heidelberg.

My favorite place in stay in Heidelberg
By Richard, 3/2/06
I've stayed in Heidelberg quite a few times for my work, usually for 10 days or more each time, and the Marriott is by far my favorite place to stay. Whenever possible I stay in one of the executive rooms, which come with executive lounge privileges. Enjoy a wonderful view of the Neckar River, the bridges, and the castle from the executive veranda while drinking a local beer or wine. The staff and the service are excellent, and they have always done their absolute best to accommodate my particular preferences. The restaurant and the stube (bar) are both very good, but more expensive than most local restaurants. If you have a car, you will appreciate the Marriott's private, secured garage and its location all the more, with very quick and easy access to all major highways and roads. If you define luxury by comfort, convenience, and service, this is the place to stay.

GREAT PLACE!!!!!!!!!!
By John B, 12/20/05
Location, service, atmosphere are all above board!!! The Staff from bottom to top are all there to make your stay comfortable. The Executive Lounge makes it worth the extra money and you are close to the Haupt Strasse for all your shopping needs. Located on the Neckar River and just a beautiful place. All the staff speak English and are very helpful!!! John

Great Business/Tourist Hotel
By Alan T, 5/21/04
I've stayed several times at this Marriott. It has without question the best location of all the hotels in Heidelberg. The rooms are good, the staff very friendly and the concierge level is worth the extra cost.
