Based on our stay at the superb Intercontinental Hotel Berlin, we made our choice to stay at the Intercontinental Frankfurt from August 30 – September 4, 2011and were not disappointed. We found all the staff extremely friendly and very helpful.
When we checked in we were given a map and explanations how to get to various places. In the evening Stephan recommended some wonderful restaurants which he booked for us.
Our room was spacious overlooking the Main River, promenade and Sachsenhausen, the view was breathtaking and after a day of sightseeing it was a delight just sitting in our comfortable armchairs drinking coffee and cappuccino and watching the cruise liners.
Room and bathroom facilities were brilliant, A/C perfect, bed and pillows so comfortable, in fact every detail well thought-out to make guests feel at home.
Breakfast was scrumptious a lavish choice of German, English, American and Asian dishes, our waitress even remembered what we liked to drink each morning. In the lobby there are 3 private free internet rooms.
A 15 minute stroll along the promenade brings you to Roemer and Geothe House/Museum from there another 5 minutes to the main shopping area Zeil. The Palmengarten is worth visiting, adorned with roses, fountains and Cafes. The view from Main Tower was amazing, but bear in mind that the Café only opens at noon.
Restaurants we enjoyed Zum Storch am Dom, Klosterhof and Druckwasserwerk which received awards.
Beware of taxi drivers some of them are rogues, make sure they drop you exactly in front of your destination we were caught out twice in town going to restaurants and had to get another taxi!
If you have been to Berlin Zoo don’t go to Frankfurt Zoo waste of time.
Restaurants, Zum Storch am Dom, Klosterhof, Druckwasserwerk
All in all an unforgettable holiday enhanced by a delightful and pampering stay at the hotel.
