Astotel Bergere Opera, Paris

I was in the hotel during transportation strike in Paris. I wanted to go to Disneyland with my daughter and since the RER was not working I asked the concierge how to get there. I was told that the only way was to go and come back by a private shuttle for 200 euros. When I said it was too expensive, concierge people told me that for 30 euros the same shuttle would also take us to the airport one day later. Being told that it was a good deal because finding a taxi for the airport was very difficult and because of the heavy traffic expensive , we accepted the offer. The shuttle driver told us that he would not go to Orly airport and he was not told so by the concierge.So I paid 200 euros and had to find a new way for going to the airport. An employee who was very inpolite in the concierge said the taxis were not getting reservations and again the only way for going to the airport is private shuttle for another 45 euros.The shuttle which came ,was not private, the dirver smelled alcohol etc. The concierge people makes you think that they are not helping you but they are after getting commissions from shuttle services. After coming back to my country I learned that there were more cheaper ways of going to the Disneyland. I will never recommend this hotel to anybody because of the inpolite, unhelpful concierge employees.

Having read other reviews I was slightly worried. But the hotel was brilliant! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly (especially when we spoke French to them - if you can do this they are great!). It was a bit dirty, the window was hard to open, and some things were broken or cracked, but the staff rectified all problems swiftly. You need to ask for a tray of tea, coffee, sugar and a kettle,(free) and you need to ask for a safe key (free) but again, these are provided willingly. The glass elevator and domed seating area were amazing. The location was superb - within walking distance of Louvre, metro stations, Galaries Lafayette, Folies Bergere, and Montmartre. We would definitely go again.
