Le Negresco, Nice

The hotel was magnificent, a one of a kind experience. The welcome, the service, and the overall ambience, as well as the great location, served our every need: we had a marvellous 4 day, 3 night stay. The level of attention we received as guests was unsurpassed. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We had an insideview room and it was very quiet. All the noise and crazyness of Nice is just a 10 minute walk away. We had a lovely stay and hope to be back soon!

My son and I had a positive experience in the Negresco overall. It is a beautiful place truly a museum. One black mark was we had to ask to be moved to a quieter room as the first one was right next to the piano bar. The noise was awful. Okay if you are not wanting a quiet stay. I had specifically asked for a quiet room. We were moved with good grace and even spent one night in an upgraded room it was very posh. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. We found the hotel clean everywhere. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was very, very average and rushed (for 56 euros I think the hot food should have been hot and the atmosphere more relaxed). Dinner in The Rotunde was very good. The onion soup was memorable. There were lots of towels, robes etc. in the room and plenty toileteries. We were overcharged for the taxi to the airport..........35 euros for a very short trip. this was arranged by the hotel. I had wanted to stay there since I first saw the place 12 years ago. I was not disappointed. Not sure if I would go back but purely because it was too noisy for me and I preferred Dubai!

A singular hotel experience, unlike any other. Highly recommend La Ronde for dinner, which represents excellent value and has the most charming decor. Likewise, the wood-panelled Relais Bar is stunning and is the only bar in the world that makes a decent (though pricey) Hemingway Sour! We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. It is an unforgettable hotel experience.

A recent PBS documentary on World War II directed by Ken Burns, brought to mind a week I spent in April 1945 when the hotel was an R & R hotel for combat soldiers. It was memorable to exchange dirty combat fatigues for a clean olive drab uniform, luxuriate in a huge tub of hot water, and sleep in the comfort of a huge bed decked with soft pillows. The cuisine in the Chanticler restraunt consisted of GI rations but prepared with a French touch. Spam was sautied in cognac. The waiters hurried about with flasks of wine as the GI's clamored, "Garcon, encores, tout suite." A day trip to the perfume fastories at Grasse brought bottles of Chanel #5 for special ladies back home. A huge sign upon entering Nice proclaimed "NO SALUTING REQUIRED." Thanks for the memories, Hotel Negresco.

The initial service here was awful, especially by the doorman who greets you when you first enter the hotel. Arrogant, rude, and will look upon you with disdain if you appear that you cannot afford to stay at the hotel or are not a guest. I can easily afford to stay there and was dressed casually but appropriately the day I went to visit. However, I chose to take my business elsewhere where they do not judge their guests by age, status, race, or dress.

This hotel is unique in many ways. First of all, the location is just down the highway from the airport, yet right across the street from the beaches of the French Riviera (by the way, the beaches are rocks, no sand). The staff went way above and beyond. They were extremely friendly and were very helpful. When my mother-in-law didn�t answer her wake up call, they sent someone right up to check on her. The art is a little of everything, but without a doubt one of the best private collections I�ve ever seen. I�m talking several hundred pieces, and quality art that you would see in museums. I thought the price to stay there was a bit high (about 400 Euro), but we had a room on the 4th floor over looking the beach. What a view, the water is a deep blue. We woke up at 3:00 AM and my wife looked out the window and said, � It must be safe, there�s a couple women down there walking by themselves.� I looked out the window and noticed a couple prostitutes walking and trying to catch the attention of passing motorist. However, don�t let that sway you. It�s a very classy hotel, in a world class neighborhood. The street market is just a couple blocks away on the weekends and is a blast to shop. It was very clean, didn�t see one single bug; however, there is a fat cat laying around in the bar. And, the bar is a very nice one. I would definitely stay here again. We had a great experience.

My wondeful family and i have just been on the most fantastic holiday to Nice where we stayed in the magnifico Negresco, it is truly amazing and if your reading these reviews please do not take heed from the ones that advise against staying there! The hotel is the most spectacular and wondrous place we have ever had the pleasure to stay in, our daughter(15 months old) was treated like a princess and even got to meet Madam Augier herself and she is the most gracious of ladies! If you are staying in the Negresco count yourselves lucky indeed,i cannot stress enough how lovely and special the hotel is and you are guaranteed a wonderful stay, the staff are amazingly attentive to every request/concern, we came away knowing we had made some very good friends! The hotel room, we had a suite on the seafront, beautiful, the bed was so comfy,linen beautiful,towels you can sink into,extremely hot water at all times and fabulous big baths-luxury!! The noise is minimal,use the blackout blinds and you will not hear anything! It is AMAZING and you will have a wonderful time, trust me!!

Overall, this was a great hotel. The location is perfect, the service excellence. We would stay there again. A few small items bothered me for the price. They need to update some of their room items. Our pillows smelled old and musty. We even ordered news ones because it was so bothersome. Our room, which overlooked the Sea, did not have all of its blackout shades in place, instead having some empty blind pulls. We did not eat at the main restaurant the cost was just too high, even for Nice. There was plenty to walk to so that was not a problem. In all, this is a great hotel for those who want to splurge on themselves.

it was totaly barbaric and discusting there were ant al in my room crawling up the wall !!!!! the room smelt so bad the staff we ignarent and rude !! alltogether it was a very poor experience and i will not be coming back
