Bed Bugs in Paris. The InterContinental Le Grand Paris. stayed between 26th Nov and 2nd Dec 2011. After reaching out to the Hotel above and the CEO of the hotel group to no real avail. they seem to think they do not have a problem or it will quietly go away. Well it won’t and I will keep bugging them until the correct action is taken. I would like to share my experience at this hotel. after staying 2 out of the 6 nights, my guests mentioned the next morning he had gotten bite during the night but his wife dismissed it as don’t be silly and we all moved on. Then after the 4th night ,I woke in the morning to find I also had bite marks on my arm from which I dismissed also, but on awakening after the 5th night I had a bigger problem. There now was many bites on my body, now I knew it was bed bugs and this was confirmed when I pulled back the white bed sheets to find were little spots of blood on the sheets. I immediately called the duty manager who quickly summoned the housekeeper to visit my room. This is where it all started to go wrong. The housekeeper with an assistant proceeded to tear the bed apart in front of my wife who was already horrified at the thought of what she saw on my body. So after searching for 10 minutes the housekeeper informed me that there are no bugs in the bed as we have a pest control company that visit regularly , the name was ready pest or Rentokil, I never quite heard her. So I showed the housekeeper the bites on my arm and she immediately informed me these are not bug bites? How she came to that conclusion so quickly baffled me as I am pretty sure she has not had the medical training that a professional doctor spent years learning. Next the duty manager called to say we are moving room, an upgrade from our junior suite to the first floor presidential suite. A nice gesture under the circumstances, there was also thrown in a bottle of house champagne, fruit and water for our troubles. Now I go to reception to talk with duty manager about a dinner booking later that evening and she proceeds to tell me all about how they have never had a case of bed bugs in 4 year and asks to look at my arm. I showed her my arm but said I am not going to show you the rest of my body. Her eye rolling response after seeing my arm, told me she was in doubt of my situation. Now she has peaked an anger in me. I also informed her about my guest experience the previous nights(room 3230) to which she just looked at me and said ..... impossible. Well my guests and wife are close by so I thanked her and joined my party to attend our dinner plans. But inside I am fuming about my honesty being questioned and I would go as far to say that she even hinted about my motive to which I replied, if I had a motive to deceive you It would have made sense to do it on my 1st night stay and not my last night. Then she informs me that the hotel will have to destroy everything in that room. that may well be, but if it is the only way to get rid of bed bugs than that is what needs to be done. This is not my concern. i do believe she is not willing to admit the fact or is in denial that her hotel has bed bugs. 2 rooms with bed bugs floors apart. I am sure we are not alone with this ? write here is you have had a similar experience at this hotel. Very Unsatisfied Customer.

We enjoyed five days at this hotel in July of 2010. Overall we had a very good experience. The staff is friendly and the hotel is centrally located in downtown Paris. The biggest drawback is lack of internet access. I was with a business group of over one hundred and none of us were able to access the internet consistently. This was a major problem for all of us. The hotel will tell you that they have internet access in each room and also available in the lobby. I never was able to connect in the room and had only a few minutes in the lobby before I lost access. If you need internet access while in Paris I suggest that you find a different hotel. Except for the internet issue we would consider staying there again if we had the opportunity.

I can't even get my way around the website. I can't understand it. All I want to know is HOW MUCH IT IS FOR 3 ADULTS

Is the Intercontinental in the hotel business or politics? People stay in a particular hotel for many reasons -- management's political beliefs is not one of them. This hotel made an unwise, inappropriate decision to discriminate against a group of people by refusing them access to the hotel. I don't care what nationality the group is, this is not civilized, intelligent behaviour and I will not stay there. I had no difficulty changing to another hotel -- Paris has many wonderful hotels with every amenity and more, found at the LeGrand. The Intercontinental chain has lost my business permanently

I would never recommend a hotel who mixes business and politics. Out of conviction, they cancelled an Israeli Tourism fair claiming Israel tortures Palestinians. Very bad idea to mix business and politics cause the American Jewish Community will boycott that hotel chain. I have stayed couple times in this hotel, very impersonal.

Even though I was tired of paying $30 for every drink in the bar, $15 for every coke, and $30 a day for internet; I really enjoyed my stay. The concierge was extremely helpful and knowledgeable which is great for my first time to Paris and not speaking any French. The food in the restaurant and room service is fantastic. Very laid back atmosphere--not as stuffy as The Ritz--even though it was as nice as The Ritz.

It is beutiful there and i would love to live there but I have a home in Evergreen a tiny town but I love it

I stayed at this hotel both before and after the remodeling. This is a completely different hotel after the remodel. If you stayed there before, do not judge by the previous life of the hotel. The hotel is now fantastic in every way. The rooms are luxurious and completely modern and elegent. Flat LCD screen TV's etc. The public areas beautiful, spacious and luxurious. The breakfast IS great. Also, the somewhat historic restaurant, which was somewhat dowdy before, is now first class in decor and food. The location is very good. A short walk to the Louve, Vendome, Opera, shopping, etc. A flagship in every way. The service is not up to the Georges V, where I have also stayed, but then, the Georges V is the best hotel in the world bar none, so that is not a drawback. But, this is a very, very good place to stay in Paris. Michelin also rates it up in the top ranks.

Excellent location. Very close to Opera Garnier and Les Galeries Lafayette. A little bit dissappointed with the room service. Asked for a cot to be put in but no one turned up. No kettle in the room. Surrey, UK

Spoil yourself right in the heart of Paris in the walking distance from Louvre, metro, etc. Actually, it's situated right across from Tuileries park so it gives you a bigger space to breath. Minutes away from the uber-cool Buddha Bar and trendiest shop, Collette, not to mention Champs Elysee itself. For me, time is the most valuable resource. So if I don't have much time to spare, its prime location is hard to beat. It helps that my company paid for it! Coming from a gentle culture like Thailand, I'm not too excited for the service, although they meet the standard expected of the hotel their level quite all right. There is nothing wrong with their cleanliness either. Just that, being a historical building itself, the hotel is a bit old. So while the room is perfectly clean, it's not brand new and shiny. Again, coming from Asia, we tend to expect a lot more when we pay THIS premium! Oh, and they are highly connected, too. In fact, as soon as you walked into your own room for the first time, the TV screen which also dubbed as a internet connection already has your name on there with a welcome message. And they have done this for a long time already. The hotel has very good, full business facilities, too, in case your company wants to do conference there. But I'm afraid it would be premium also. I think Napoleon III or someone used to hold a meeting with his generals in one of the meeting rooms there with the huge ornated fireplace. You get the picture. Overall, we had a peace of mind in our stay,not having to worry about our stuff being stolen or heater doesn't work, etc. We also got to experience the heart and soul of Paris more as it should be, not just as tourists would do, because of its excellent location and its helpful staff. So, considering all points, we decide to rate it as excellent.
