Hotel Astoria Brussels, Brussels

The Sofitel Astoria had lot of charm. From the 10 foot (or higher) ceiling in my room to the updated bathroom and elegant dining, and marble staircase, staying here made me feel like I wasn't at another global-chain hotel that could have been back in the US. The bar and dining was excellent (best chicken I had while in Belgium). Internet service was available through Orange. There are a lot of sites within walking distance (Grand Place, Palace, Park, Gardens, Nightclubs, bars etc.) The only downsides were the "free" internet was a hardwired connection in a closet-sized room off of the lobby (and it was always in use), and the gym was small and old, but that wasn't much of a problem since there is so much else to do.
