That being said. You also must realize you get what you pay for. The service was very friendly, if not a tad slow at times. We had two rooms. One had a small bird dropping inside the door and seemed to be located in the "maid's quarters". There was always a cart and stuff outside the door. However, we found sheets and restrooms were clean.
The neighborhood is very busy on a dangerous road. After crossing a footbridge, you are very close to a nice public beach. It's a short cab to everywhere else. There are some fun 24 hour bar/cantinas within walking distance. I would feel safe only in groups at night, however.
This hotel has opened the option for a spontaneous winter weekend in San Juan at an affordable rate!
