great dive operation and food make for quality experience
By bob, 2/18/08
The staff really seems to care about provideing a quality experience for all of their quests. I was helped to increase my down time, decrease my air consumption and contol my bouincy to enhance my diveing experience. More experienced divers were given the freedom to explore with a partner as long it was done safey. All meals were excellent. they are served buffet style and are a combination gormet and down home country style that is as unigue as Gladys Howard, the the owner and inspiration to the staff. The freindly personal style of this resort might not appeal to those who's idea of service is subservience. It's more like spending time with friends who know how to live well in a really cool place

Third visit in 6 years!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/07
Great food, great diving, wonderful dive staff, laid back atmosphere - the biggest decision I had to make all week was what brand of beer to drink after diving. The perfect gettaway! The divemasters are phenomenally skilled, attentive, and safety conscious without being oppressive. Once they know your capabilities, they let you manage yourself and dive your computer profile. We averaged almost three hours a day underwater on two tanks. It's well worth tagging along with them - they know where all the neat critters and great swimthroughs are! There really isn't much to do if you aren't a diver - its a very small island, after all. You and the other guests make your own entertainment. Be prepared to make some new friends at the bar and after dinner at the domino table! Gladys takes wonderful care of her guests, and the resort is very comfortable. The accomodations are clean and up to date. The fact that PP is full up almost all the time, with an 80% return rate, should tell you everything you need to know.

Great SCUBA, very poor accommodations
By Robert Zeidman, 2/4/07
The diving is great and the dive crew is generally very nice, helpful, and experienced. It’s hard to imagine better diving anywhere. The food is very good and there’s plenty of it at the three tightly-scheduled meal times. That’s the good part. Now for the bad part. The accommodations are terrible. The beds have uncomfortable mattresses with hard, flattened pillows. Paint is peeling, the showers leak, floor tiles are chipped and missing, doors and dresser drawers are warped so they no longer close, lampshades are worn and burnt, and wall fixtures are known to fall off. Perhaps worst, there’s no privacy as the windows facing out to the pathways have open shutters or translucent shades that become nearly transparent at night – when you want privacy most. The surrounding beach and resort area have some trash and building materials strewn about. The clubhouse has a friendly and eccentric atmosphere but is also dusty with cobwebs. Sand fleas invested the place. I guess there’s not much you can do about them on the beaches, but they were in the buildings, too, including our bed, leaving red itchy bumps for days after we departed. Other than diving there’s almost nothing to do. You can join the owner, Gladys, in her nightly game of dominoes. Other games are in bad shape with pieces missing or items unusable. Bicycles for visitor use are kept outside all year round where they have rusted to the point of nearly being unusable and have been known to break down. The gift shop, surprisingly, contains no aloe, aspirin, or toiletries. Souvenirs like t-shirts cost nearly double what they do on Grand Cayman. Almost everything costs extra at Pirate’s Point and the cost of renting scuba equipment for the week is about 70% of the purchase price for brand new equipment. Finally, don’t think that the run-down condition of the place is unavoidable due to salty air or excessive heat, as you will be told by the staff. Gladys lives next door in one of the biggest, most pristine, beautifully decorated houses you’ll find anywhere. In my opinion, you can find similarly great diving and better accommodations for the same price, or great diving and equivalent accommodations for much less money elsewhere.

unique heaven
By john, 11/16/06
l travel a long way to see this small island made in heaven, spent almost 2 months there, walking or riding around, the water is oh so blue, warm and totally refreshing, the people at pirates point were warm and freindly, always willing to help you make everypart of your holiday one that you will aways treasure, the food excellent, unique, with a dash of magic. the hotel itself was totally unexpected, rooms that suit the style of the island with just a few steps to the beach, the sun,and the sea, plus if your a diver a quick safe travel on the boat to the many different spots the only the locals know were to go,ready for you to explore the underworld that will blow you away.for me to leave was very sad but my heart is still there just waiting to go back again soon. john suffolk

Service and Diving at Its best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/31/06
This resort is very low key and perfect for all diving enthusiasts. No matter if you're new to diving or an old pro, the staff here takes the best care of you. The food is delicious and not typically "southern." They served pizza, seafood pasta, lamb curry stew and other various dishes while I was there. Enjoy the beautiful, pristine location and the wonderful, fun staff.

Misleading website
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/06
For starters, the food is Southern with lots of leftovers, not the French Cuisine as advertised. The main "hotel" is more like a hostel in need of upgrading. The cleanliness is a real problem.

Okay, but will stay at Little Cayman Beach Resort next time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/05
You would not want to go there for a private vacation since you will be with all the other guests for your activities and meals...very little privacy at this resort. If you are not a diver there is not much to do, no other watersports offered. There are little modern conveniences at this resort, no tv in our room. Grounds of the resort and the buildings need to be remodeled. Aside of the beach, the grounds are not much to look at. The pool is average. The big highlight of this resort is the gourmet food which is sure to increase your waistline in a short time. If a little diving (they only had 2 AM dives a day), sitting around, eating, eating, and more eating, is your desire, this is the place for you. Otherwise I would check out the other resorts which have more to offer for less money.

Great location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/04
Near beach and scuba diving areas. Great guides and the food is great as expected by a trained and certified cook/owner.
