Amazing!
By ,
If youre looking for a place that is fun, safe, and has wonderful weather this is the place! Aruba was unbelievable but the Riu was just as wonderful! I cant explain how nice it was that everyone spoke english used u.s. currency and how nice the staff was to us. We became friends with everyone. When they say Aruba is one happy island i cant explain how true that is to the name. ive been to other tropical places but this was by far the best. The food at the Riu was so good i cant put into words. My boyfriend had the best steak hes ever had. Even their buffet was good. They make hand made donuts and make eggs how ever you would like them. The lunch and dinner were just as good including tons of fresh seafood. I recommend this place for anyone! families or couples youll enjoy aruba and the Riu. Ps. its the biggest hotel on the island and the pool was big and very nice. Also, If your looking for off resort things which I recommend because its very safe on the island go to the natural pool and do the jolly pirates! Jolly pirates was a lot of fun and they make it so that everyone is having fun. its open bar and they serve you lunch the food was really good. The snorkeling was beautiful.

We just got back! Here is our story.
By ,
Before I booked our trip to Aruba I went online and searched out reviews on places to stay. I am grateful to everyone who went before us and passed on their experiences so now it is my turn.To start I must tell you it seems most but not all people seem to dwell on the bad things and not all the good things that the Riu offers. The food is great , the beach is great ,the staff is great, the pool is great and the bartenders down by the pool were bringing us fresh drinks even before we finished our old ones ! If you want top shelf booze just ask for it,that is all it takes to solve that problem. We did not have a problem getting huts or pool chairs. The first day I found out how the game was played when it comes to reserving both.just use your head and maybe a couple bucks in the right hands and PRESTO! no problems. It seems so funny to me that people will spend thousands on their vacation but will not part with five bucks to get exactly what they want! Well maybe it is the fact that we come from Chicago and have an understanding of the game called (Supply and Demand)! The people at the front desk could not have been nicer to us, they will do just about anything to make you happy.I do not say that the Riu is perfect. I just wanted to state the positives before the negatives because I feel the good outweighs the bad 10-1! O.K. Here we go with the bad.Our room was in the main building an ocean view junior suite ,it was very nice but smelled old and musty to me,but it did not bother my wife. The rooms in our building are laid out with two rooms side by side down a hallway off the main hallway. When people go in and out of their rooms at night it is very loud and seems like they are just about in your room. We did not have to get up for work or anything so it was not that big of deal but it did wake us up just about every night . I am sitting here trying to think up more negatives but I am coming up blank. I guess that must tell you something. The bottom line is this. It is not cheap but is a very COOL place to vacation in Aruba!

All was great except my son got salmonella there.
By ,
Very beautiful hotel, great service, amazing ocean view from most rooms. Small island, very close to a small town with shopping and restaurants open at night. About 10 min to the capital city Orangestad by bus - $2/person ride. If not for undercooked eggs and meat, all would be great, however, because of undercooked egg my son had to be rushed to emergency room with salmonella. Beware.

FABULOUS....A GEM!
By ,
We honeymooned at Rui Palace, and it was an experience like no other. We're in our late twenties and have done the cuba/dominican/acapulco thing....THE RIU was like NO OTHER. You won't starve, lots to do everyday, the staff GENUINE and happy. We'd go back in a heartbeat! Elisa & Rui Toronto

We loved it
By ,
We loved everything about it. The staff was great, the food was good, the pool was nice. This was our 5th year vacationing in Aruba and the Riu was by far the best place we have ever stayed. The only down side was the people reserving their chairs at the pool at 6:30 a.m. and not showing up until noon. Management should definitely have put a stop to that. We will go back next year and we had absolutely no problem with theft. When we spoke to the staff prior to arrival because of the reviews we had read about theft, they were very responsive.

We had a room invasion on Xmas '08
By ,
While my wife slept in the bedroom at the Aruba RIU on christmas eve 08, our room was burgularized and electronics, cash and jewelry stolen! The robber came through the window on the ocean front, opened the door and entered. When reported to Richard the manager, he was rude and could have cared less. The staff was in denial that this has become a common practice at the Aruba RIU. Safety is lax and the customer's well being is of little concern. No steps are taken to correct the problem. A dreadful christmas experience. To make matters worse, we fell on the slippery rain soaked marble floors, along with many other patrons. Look elsewhere in Aruba for a fun stay.

Great place, BUT LOCK UP YOUR VALUABLES
By ,
We visited the end of August/labor day weekend. We really enjoyed our stay and loved the Riu, but when I got home, found out my diamond ring and tanzanite earrings were missing!. I kept them locked up in the safe all the time and the room locked. I called the Riu upon returning home, but no one could ever help me. DO NOT TAKE ANY VALUABLE JEWELRY WITH YOU, UNLESS YOU WEAR IT AT ALL TIMES!

most beautiful hotel on the island!
By ,
Beautiful Hotel by far, compared to so many others. The month of Sept. was a little humid, so therefore a lot of mosquitos were out! All-inclusive drinking was a plus, especially when they also had some top shelf liquors that i liked. The buffet food wasn't so good, but we enjoyed all the resturants. (gourmet rest. was horrible, we both got sick off the food). all the others were good! japanese & steak house was the best. Two complaints that i have, first was the bed , Hard ! Ok..so you don't sleep all day , it dosen't really matter. Second, was the stupid rule that if you booked an excursion for the early morning , you could'nt reserve the dinner seating for that night because it was only from 9-12pm. Oh, one more complaint that i have is that they don't have a night club or anything, considering there are so many honeymooners that are of the ages 21+. Other than that , Fabulous place to stay, Staff was ++, Bartenders working it!++Waiters & Waitresses were superb! Would stay here again if i came back to aruba, (just have a better ocean view this time, like a suite or something) ******
