The Fairmont Southampton, Hill View

Quality, service and value for money were not there. Did not feel safe either. I do not recommend this hotel nor do I recommend Bermuda as a holiday destination.

This is a very nice hotel with a great golf course (something thats rather rare in a country with only 20 square miles of land). The grounds were beautiful, but a trolly was needed to transport guests to their private beach, which was somewhat annoying. Besides that, the restaurants we nice and its location (basically in the middle of the island) made it easy for short trips everywhere. The downside (for me) was that it is geared to families, and small children were all too common.

If you want to stay at an extremely overpriced, foul smelling hotel with locals who have bad attitudes and just want your money real fast - this is the hotel for you.

great hotel, very nice rooms. Bermuda is the best place to vacation. The best restaurant is Bouchee, in the city of Hamilton, great food wonderful service. looking forward to going back.

We checked in and were given a 1st floor room with a balcony that overlooked a dirty rooftop where hotel staff congregated to smoke. It was awful so I called the desk and a snooty man told me that I booked a moderate room and if I wanted to move, he could give me a room over the loading dock. Not what I expected as a member of the President's Club. Morning coffee will cost $3.50 in a 6 oz styrofoam cup. You can make coffee in your room but the creamers are never replaced by room service. We drank our bottled water from the mini bar and it was never replaced. I called room service and, after 4 hours, we still had no water. I called again and they showed up. Ice tea will cost $6.00 with no free refills. There are no robes in the rooms. There is a shuttle that takes you to the beach so don't think the beach is out your door. Every day, they ran out of towels at the beach. One day, there wasn't one chair by the pool and I was told to use the beach. The staff at this hotel are not local Bermudans, rather foreigners from all over the world. This is to save on labor costs. One day, the hotel's sundry shop ran out of water. How can a hotel have no water?! The average price of lunch for two with non alcoholic drinks is about $50 per couple. Dinner averages $180 for two with one alcoholic drink. I don't mind spending money but I do expect first class service and the Fairmont needs to send its entire staff to a Ritz Carlton for a lesson on service. There are 6 restaurants on site and Waterlog and Bacci were outstanding. Wicketts serves a very nice lunch. I could not recommend this hotel because of lack of service and a staff that is rather aloof to the needs of its clientele.

We had a nice stay at Fairmont Southampton. We were not able to get a reservation at Bacci on our last night and asked the Concierge to recommend a good restaurant. I felt that the Gold Floor would know of one. They recommended Tio PePe.. It was awful food and rotten service. Bermuda was wonderful! However, what a waste of $137.00 for 4 little awful pizza's that make Pizza Hut look good. Don't Go There! I hope Fairmont Gold floor thinks better of that recommendation next time!!!!! We hope Tio PePe no longer gets Fairmont Gold Guests!

I was a bit concerned because of the location - on the map it looks a long distance from Hamilton. We went during the off-season and this was a good place to stay for amenities. The hotel is well-served by the bus system (buses are clean and new and very cheap). This may seem a bit strange- but taxis are expensive, and frankly walking or biking seems to be a bit risky. For a location so close to North America - the local driving style is European. Because of the limited number of roads on the island, the buses get you to a location as quickly as most other modes of transport. Because the buses are supported by the government, they run constantly and well. The costs of meals are high as is food. However, it is difficult to find cheap meals anywhere. Be prepared for this, hamburgers cost roughly $13-$20 outside. My opinion on the hotel costs were they were at the high end of the scale - but not outlandishly so. Service is wonderful and responsive. The hotel grounds (and particularly the beach) are amazing. Bermuda is a wonderful place to visit - just be prepared for the sticker shock.

I Enjoyed are stay at this hotel. The hotel has many rooms and they each have very nice marble bathrooms. The room we stayed on had a nice veiw of the golf course. If you book a fairmount room your veiw could be of a tar roof. There are 2 pools and 5 or 6 restaurants. The outdoor pool is open 24/7 and the indoor pool opens at 6:00 pm and closes at 11:00 pm and people using the spa during the day can use it. The is a mezziane full of shops and expensive jewrely. The restuarants are a bit overpriced. My stay was the best and I enjoyed it.

I am in the hotel business - and really needed a vacation and get away - we travelled along with our nine month old and the hotel was a perfect place for us - we had all the amenities, pool, health club and spa and great restaurants - we never left the resort and the beaches were amazing and so easy for us to move around with our little one - it was a great great visit and we hope to go back again next year and it was so nice to get away and stay at another hotel chain - we loved the Fairmont- excellent service, food and ambiance.

I just return from a seven night eight day vacation at the Southhampton Fairmont. I had a wonderful time in Bermuda and at this hotel. The people at the front desk, the concierge, the Jasmine restaurant, Wickets restaurant, and Windows on the Sound, there were all very nice. the bellmen, housekeeping, the trolley drivers, every one was very, very, nice, and helpful. I can truly single out a few names for special mention, at the front desk was Kristy, who was very helpful and friendly, and knew her job, at the Concierge desk was Curlene, who has a everescent personality, and is always smilling, I met Doreen briefly she was nice also, but she got ill and I did not see her before I left. Most of the waiters and waitress at the Jasmine restaurant were very nice and accommadating, especial Simone, John, and the very tall waiter, I forgot his name. Antione in the windows restaurant was very nice, and attentive. John especially went out of his way and took the time to make a copy of the menu for me. I enjoy going to Cellars to hear the band, but the people are less friendly, and the drinks are not that great. The band is great, and also the atmosphere. I am truly looking forward to visiting and staying at the Southhampton Fairmont again. I also got to visit the Hamilton Princess,and it does not have the same welcoming feeling as the Southhampton Fairmont. I also have to mention the people at the Wickets restaurant especially the chef, she knows her stuff, and was gracious enough to change one of her recipes to suit my taste, it is things like that that has made me rave about this place, all the food was great, I am especially in love with the Bermauda fish soup that the Jasmine serves, and of course the piano player is a great entertainer, also the trio that plays after him. I love the grounds, the garden, the smell of the spicy herb next to the restaurant, I think it is marjarom, or basil, not sure but it smells great. I travel 3-4 times yearly, and always stay at hotels, but Bermuda has now became my second best vacation spot after Barbados. I am hoping to return before the end of the year, but definitely next year again. My Sincere appreciation to the many workers tha I met and chat with at this hotel. You are all wonderful.
