Munro Beach Cottages Bermuda
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/8/06
Munro Beach is a reasonable place to look into for a relatively economical stay in Bermuda. The upside is that it is a quiet, isolated location away from the hustle and bustle. The downside is... the same. Depending on what you are looking for, this could work for you. Great beach to lounge on, water is crystal clear and the most beutiful shade of blue; but if you want to snorkel it is a very long (but pretty safe) swim. Beautiful view of azure blue sea from your porch.
If you want to go anywhere (and you probably will) you will either need to rent scooters or walk about 1/2 mile to catch the bus. If you are a golfer, the Port Royal Golf Course is right next door. And this is a great side of the island. You are close to Church Beach, and not far from Elbow and Horseshoe Beaches. You can save money by cooking a few nights and the rates are, by Bermuda standards, reasonable.
All, however, is not quite perfect in paradise. Bermuda has more crime than you might expect. On your arrival the manger advises you to close and lock all your windows and doors at night; this is unfortunate as you cannot listen to the ocean or take advantage of the sea breezes. During the hot season, you have to use the air conditioner in order to sleep. And while we were there, someone did try to break into a nearby cottage. The other downside is ants. Very small, not a big problem, but still annoying.
Bottom line--if you want a luxury hotel and plan to eat out everynight, go to a luxury hotel. If you want a quiet vacation in a cottage with a beautiful view at a reasonable price (and you don't mind a few ants and locking yourself in at night), Munro Beach might be worth considering.
