Nooooo!
By Teresa, 4/16/12
In 1988, my new husband and I were lucky enough to have been treated to a week long. all-expense paid honeymoon by David Halliburton as a gift for our wedding. My parents were instrumental in providing the room decor at the helm of an incredible architect / designer named Guy. Alot of these people have passed now and it seems as if the hotel has met its demise as well. So sad - it held wonderful memories for me plus it was a dream resort as well... it will be missed.

What The..?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/12
Just found out that one of my favorite hotels in the world is no more! I was searching in google maps for the hotel and just didn't understand why there was a dirt lot where the hotel should have been. I will always remember watching the whales from the pool deck with the hotel telescope, Friday night BBQ's and quiet Saturdays away from the madness of Cabo. Goodbye my friends, I miss you.

So bummed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/11
After reading Keith Richards' book and discovering that he and Patti Hansen were married here, I decided that my husband and I just had to come back! It had been too long and we deserved a quiet vacation. So bummed that the Twin Dolphin is no longer here. We had a fabulous 5-day stay about 5-6 years ago based on the recommendation of a friend who had been here many times. I agree with everyone else's reviews; such a different experience than most (all) resorts in Cabo. So serene, but with all the amenities that define an upscale resort. We spoke at length to the owner, the "black sheep" of the Halliburton family - quite a story! Twin Dolphin - you will be missed!!

Say it ain't so!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/11
Remember Marcos, the matrade? What a great place for a romantic dinner and the BEST for a girl's afternoon out for drinks and snacks after shopping in Cabo San Lucas. I spent 20 years going to the Twin Dolphin, two months at a stretch and I will always miss it!!!

So sorry to see it go
By Vicki, 3/5/11
We have been coming to the Twin Dolphin since 1990. We actually had reservations the year it was to be torn down and they called us to cancel our reservation. We could not come before that time, so alas, we never got to say goodbye. We miss it very much. We no of no other place like it in Mexico, but have found "Post Ranch Inn" in Big Sur California that has the "family" feel and views of the Pacific just like The Twin, except about 1,000 feet above the ocean on a cliff. I'm sure whatever they build will not be good enough for us "Dolphin regulars".....

ELYSIUM for the lovers of the Cape
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/10
I thought that the Twin Dolfin was the most beautiful hotel on the Cape and all of Baja! One of my Favorite times was driving from LA to THE HOTEL in 26 hours and as we rolled into the Twin Dolfin it was like arriving at Elysium, all starlit above with a glowing Hotel below. And, oh ya, the Grateful Dead tape was cooking in that 4-wheel drive ford. Now there are condos going in the name of liquidation, resale, and a complete lose of mind by, well I guess it is better left unsaid. The man who put The Twin Dolfin Hotel together was named David J. Halliburton during the 1970's(RIP). Ask anyone who has been around the Cape what he was like and you will about a generous and well liked fisherman among other attributes. We stayed there during the 70s,80s, & 90s.(2000s) Cheers, Lewis

How Could You
By Rocky, 7/16/10
The Twin Dolphin is an institution! How in the name of God ..or Hell could you knock it down? What in the Hell were you thinking! Dear God if I had known I would have been there in two seconds. Please tell me this is not true. My husband Winthrop Paul Rockefeller and friends adored the Marlin fishing! How could you? dcsage04@yahoo,com For the sake of our family I trust this information is incorrect. Deborah Sage Rockefeller and Family

Tragic loss of a great hotel ...
By EDE19, 7/7/10
I too was a frequent guest at the Twin Dolphin. Went the last time in 2006 when the news that they had been sold to developers was just announced and this was going to be the last season. It was still as fabulous then as it had been decades earlier. Probably the most luxurious vacation I had ever had in my life. Incredibly serene, elegant, classy, with cuisine to die for. No telephones or televisions, it was so quiet and peaceful. Truly an incredible getaway from a stressful work life. But the writing was on the wall. They were planning for a Ventanas-type development then - which was exactly what I didn't want. What is wrong with developers today? They don't understand how to have class any more. A real shame. If anyone out there knows somewhere else in the world - close to the US, not so far as Tahiti, Thailand or the Indian Ocean, where you can have this type of experience again, tell us.

I Had No Idea
By Matthew, 4/27/10
It's been years since I was a guest a the Hotel Twin Dolphins. At the time only Mexican air carriers flew to Cabo San Lucas or your own plane; a bambo fence separating folding tables (for customs) from a wind sock and tarmac was the airport. The open air lobby of the hotel, with the little sculpture of the twin dolphins, opened out to a vista like no other. The dining room with it's magnificant sliding glass doors as high as the sky made everything visable. The cursive walkways that lead to your room with a view of the Sea of Cortez. The infinity pool with the swim-up-bar was the first ever for me. I'll miss the wonderful staff. The meals I so enjoyed, especially the freshly caught Dorado grilled for the evenings dinner. Papay with lime juice squeezed over it, with breakfast,yum..I have my beach towles with the logo to keep my memories fresh of another by gone era.

Agreement in the Devastation
By Teri, 2/28/10
I agree with SDMets. My husband had been going since the 70's - me since the 90's...My husband and I search high and low in Cabo to find a hote that even comes close to what Twin Dolphins had to offer. We saw it coming - we knew once it was sold - that is was only a matter of time before the bulldozers would appear - took longer than we thought. Still makes me sad. Obviously, those who made the decision never really appreciated what they had - the would never really "get it" anyway. I do have the memories - and thank goodness for that - that's something the new "property owners" will never take away. If anyone comes up with anything close to the spectactular Twin Dolphins - would love to hear about it.
