Losiento Por La Fiesta

I had read through the reviews and had an idea what I was in for. No one over exaggerated the elevators. There are three elevators, and 18 floors. We were on the 17th floor... We actually opted to take the stairs a couple times because the elevators were so hot, and so packed that it was miserable or just took to long. I would say that we would comfortably fit 7, but there were as many as 12 people on there at once, and once you got on the elevator you would typically stop on 6 or 7 floors on the way up or down. If we could have been on a lower floor, say 8 or lower, I undoubtedly would have taken the stairs every time. HOWEVER little known fact, when it is not super busy with check-ins and check outs, you can take the service elevators on the opposite side!
The other people staying there are not American tourists. But then again no one in Acapulco is an American tourist. I believe I saw one other 'gringo family' in the hotel and that was it. Most of the tourists in Acapulco were from Mexico City, which also means very few people spoke English out side of the hotel workers (who were very friendly) If you are going to Acapulco it is important to make sure that someone in your group has the basic knowledge of Spanish. The pool is packed with families and loud kids running around, and is not really the best place for relaxation, but if your kids speak Spanish, they may have fun.
The food is edible, however lacked variety and they did not have some of the things you would assume they would have like chips and salsa., tacos, or enchiladas. Breakfast was pretty good though. We were on the all inclusive plan, and the mixed drinks were pretty bad, so we had to stick with the cerveza and we ate out for dinner every night.
Our AC in the room did not get much below 80, and we even kept the curtain closed all day to see if that would help. The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean, and we had a great view. The hotel really is right on the beach, but the vendors were pretty annoying and the sand if very grainy and kinda hurts your feet so take some good water shoes. I am aware of all of the problems and dangers in Mexico, but I did not feel endangered at any point in time, in any of the places we went, and we were out at all hours of the morning and evening.
The work out room is pretty darn nice for a hotel, especially in Mexico.
My group truly did have a wonderful time, the hotel has a wonderful location, however I will not be returning to the Copacababa. With that said, I have no hope of returning to Acapulco either, perhaps we were in the wrong spot or something, but I was hoping for a more 'Americanized' vacation, instead it felt like I was in Mexico City. I will probably be sticking with Cozumel and Playa del Carmen in the future.
