Holiday Inn Puerto Vallarta, 5 de Diciembre

There was not much to like about this hotel. They are lucky it is in Puerto Vallarta where the weather was perfect so being outside, away from the hotel, made it an OK vacation. 1st room was a dump on floor #1, not yet remodeled we were told after a hurricane a few years back. It smelled bad, musty, moldy, .................. The air conditioning did not work, the beds were hard, outlet covers were falling off, there were ants in the front room, no microwave or refrigerator. The couch was filthy!!! I would never have sat on it. We were disgusted. We asked to be moved but were told the hotel was full until Monday. On Monday we were told Tuesday. Finally Tuesday morning we were moved 1 floor up to a so-called remodeled room. It also smelled stale and musty but the air conditioning did work which helped with the smell. The bathroom smelled like urine. The safe was broke, the lock on the patio door was broke, the shower water changed temperatures constantly without changing the handle. The beds were again very hard, the couch was again filthy, and there was no closet in the bedroom area. The sink area in the bathroom was tiny. The food at the buffet was awful. I found the only acceptable thing to eat was the beans and weiners, that is pretty sad. I am so glad we did not get the all inclusive. I must say that the room cleaning staff was very nice, polite, and helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless they tear it down and start over!!

I was in Puerto Vallarta in Dec 2005 for two weeks the Hotel was great and the location to downtown for perfect. The Entertaiment at the hotel lobby sucked, it was boring with amateur dancers every night for an hour and then constant XMAS MUSIC. As for the restaurants the food was good but DO not go there expecting a lot of food its not going to happen. I did not swim much at the pool because the water was FREEZING, They only started to heat the pool 1 day before my departure. I suggest if you go to Vallarta great place just look around for a better hotel.

they had a nice pool and bar layout, also the beach venders couldn't get to you. the buffet was good , nice variety , i would not go to the resteraunts at the hotel they don't give you enough to eat,we tried a lot of places downtown

My visit to the Holiday Inn was wonderful. The staff was great. Dany and Ania where very cool and fun to hang out with. All the waiters where awesome. The waiter in the Lobby Bar was the best.

Everyone was very helpful and polite. Great room service, and the rooms were very clean. The enviroment was very safe and secure. The beach was very clean and safe.

We stayed at the property in February 2005 as part of an air/hotel package offered by Transglobal Vacations. We checked the IC Hotels website(parent of Holiday Inns)before booking the trip and the IC Hotels website indicated an inventory of 207 NEWLY REMODELED rooms on 9 floors. The property was in a convenient location relative to either downtown or the marina area (about $4.00 US for a cab ride) and it looked nice from the photos on the IC Hotels website so we booked the vacation. We arrived and were placed in a room in a tower adjacent to the newly remodeled tower/rooms. The tower where our room was located was Hoteles Valle Grande(that is what the table tents and the phone plate said). The rooms in our tower were apparently being gutted out for conversion to SEA RIVER condominiums. The room itself was moldy, dirty and smelly and the ratty and stained carpeting was well beyond its life expectancy. The room suffered from a significant amount of deferred maintenance including broker door latches and a non functioning room safe. The hallways were dirty from construction dust and smelled of paint and chemicals. During the day construction noises (sawing either concrete or tile) were rather loud so we stayed away as much as possible. The food in the restaurant was tastefully prepared and the restaurant and bar staff were pleasant and accommodating and the beach area was nice except for the view of the construction going on next door for another very large condominium complex. We found the front desk staff to be indifferent. We were told that the hotel had been overbooked for weeks and weeks into the future and that there were no other rooms available. There are a number of other hotels in the area to select from. I would walk/run to one of those before takng a chance that I would be stuck in one of these "overflow" rooms that aren't part of the Holiday Inn's published hotel room inventory.

The room was clean and air conditioned. Our kids loved the pool. The staff was attentive and friendly. Hotel-restaurant food was good, but really expensive. We will stay there again.

The location to downtown and the airport was great. The hotel accomidations were good and the rooms and bathrooms were clean. WE enjoyed the hotels entertainment and they had things to do each and everyday. The information we got upon arrival was good and very helpful. We've been back and brought other people along and they enjoyed the time there as much as we did. We're going again and staying at the Holiday Inn. They have the all-inclusive meals/drinks, which was also great because you didn't need to have money for every little thing while sunning or swimming.

Holiday Inn, Puerto Vallarta is the perfect place to spend your vacation. The staff was friendly, fast, and they always kept the entire hotel clean and tidy. The location is right on a beautiful stretch of beach, but also has a huge pool. I will definately be going back to the same hotel next year. It was great! The spa is great alwell, we got massages on the beach at sunset!
