Intercontinental Cancun Resort, Zona Hotelera

We were in #134. Every morning we woke up to guests playing loud music early in the morning. Another disturbance: the housekeeping which also began cleaning rooms in and around our immediate vicinity early in the morning. All we heard were the noises of slamming doors CONSTANTLY as housekeeping were in and out cleaning other units! I mean we could hear a person using a blow drier while walking down the hallway, about 5 units away. The walls are paper thin and we could hear other guests’ conversations!!! We complained to the front desk and they noted it in the computer, but never acted on it despite several complaints. It is very disheartening to know that guests are disregarded at this hotel and that the hotel staff takes a very non-chalant approach to hotel guests’complaints. The front desk treated us very coldly and they were not attentive at all. The shower leaked all over the floor and every time we showered, we had to clean up the floor using towels due to the poor design of the shower head being located in the center of the tub, up high. The room service we ordered, seemed to always be wrong. We had to call in to get the items we actually ordered (i.e. salad with no dressing or condiments missing, no creamer for our coffee, etc.). The noise factor was the most disappointing because presumably people go on vacation to relax and get some rest, but we barely got any sleep due to the constant disruption of doors INCESSANTLY slamming. I had to sleep with ear plugs the entire time I was there and my boyfriend would sleep with pillows over his head!!! I imagine one of the reasons for the commotion is the linen closet being close to our unit. At any rate, I will not recommend this hotel to anyone nor stay there again. As for the amenities, while there are 4 Jacuzzis, the idea that they are interlaced with the pool makes them simply small pools. Jacuzzis are meant to be hot and invigorating- separate from the pool and certainly not in an area where kids are constantly jumping around from pool to Jacuzzi. Why not put a Jacuzzi in the adult section that is not connected to the pool and is actually hot like it is meant to be?? I think that would make a lot of sense! The fact that they do not have FREE WI-FI is pathetic! We are living in an era where everyone is expecting access to the outside. It would probably be a good idea to provide internet access to their guests and not charge them daily exorbitant rates to be able to communicate with their loved ones back home. Imagine if this hotel had provided WI-FI for free, and guests took pictures with their mobile devices and posted them to social network websites while vacationing...that would be free advertising for them and in the end would offset what they would have to pay to provide free WI-FI. Finally, to have a bathroom door that is clear glass, does not have a lock or adequate sealing around the door, nor proper ventilation is ridiculous! When someone goes to the bathroom, it is reasonable to expect privacy from other guests you are sharing the room with! My boyfriend and I would use the public bathrooms in the lobby for privacy! I mean that is pathetic!!! Neither one of us were comfortable with the arrangement!!! In addition, the hotel did not provide adequate space for storage of clothing! There was not a chest with drawers to place your clothes in but for 4 small drawers under the bench against the wall and a small closet that was useless because it was stuffed with an ironing board and a safe on the other side. I hope these suggestions don't fall on deaf ears and I hope they make the necessary improvements to this establishment so that other guests can hopefully benefit because it is too late for me and my boyfriend. We had a miserable time, got little to no sleep and were very disappointed with the hotel. We couldn't wait to leave the hotel to go back HOME and get some proper rest and that is the irony because that is what you expect while at a hotel and on vacation.

This place is great just starting of with the location. i must say this hotel has the best beach area since you don't have all those crazy waves coming in so if you have children it is way safer. The rooms are nice and modern and with the heat it was great having that ac. The food they serve is good and great to have some appetizers when you're laying out. this will be the hotel i stay in again for my next visit.

I went in a big family wedding vacation....with the kids....it was great....exelent buffet for breakfast....the room service...ok....the beach...I did relax with my two years old daughter....Cancun and the Intercontinental Presidente are my choice to the next trip....

This is Great Hotel . We found our "new home" there. We get a warm welcome from the time we get out of the cab upon arrival and that welcome and service stays with us until the day we depart. In fact my daughter, and my lifelong friend and her daughter have joined us there and stayed for one week for the last 2 years. We all love the hotel, beach, service, food, malibu pina colatas, massages on the beach, and also the calming beautiful torquoise waters. The cleanliness of the entire hotel, the room size, and the most comfortable beds imaginable. We feel very much at home here and will be travelling there again in April 2008. We look forward to seeing all of our favorite waiters, bell boys, service desk employees, concierge, etc.I can't say enough about this hotel. Beautiful view, beautiful beach, plus an added bonus, an adult "quiet" swimming pool. Service, fun and pampering, that's what it is all about. Try it. you'll like it. We did!!

I stayed at this hotel twice and loved it. I thought our room was huge, granted we had 8 people staying there. The staff was great. Very clean. A nice balcony and great view of the beach. We couldn't beat the price. This is the only place I would stay.

My wife and I was there from March 11th 2009-march 15 2009 the Hotel service was good the people at the front desk were nice and informative. The rooms were clean a little out dated and the Tv was small 19".The beach was wonderful traveling through out the city was safe the people were very friendly.I speak only a little spanish but we had a cab driver who spoke good english. If anyone is in need of an interpretor this wonderful man would gladly help you out.

My husband and I stayed at the InterContinental Presidente Cancun Resort for two reasons...a 2-day business meeting and our 25th wedding anniversary and to say the least, we were VERY DISAPPOINTED. This place is NO resort! If you are a non-smoker, I do not recommend staying there unless you are guaranteed a non-smoking room. My husband has asthma and I found out when I got home, from the doctor, that I am allergic to cigarette smoke. We stayed 7 nights and of those 7 nights we were told each day, when we asked, that the hotel was 100% booked and that we could not change to a non-smoking room. On our 5th night I could not stop coughing from breathing the second-hand smoke in the hallway and what was coming under our door into our room, so I had my husband call (at 12:30 a.m.) the front desk to ask again, getting the same answer as before, 'they are 100% booked'. The next morning I packed our bags and went to the front desk, with no voice, and asked for a non-smoking room or a late check out because I could not stay another night in that room. The lady at the counter found me a non-smoking room in less than a minute....by then it was already to late and both of us were not feeling well for the rest of our trip, we still had 3 more days before we were to leave and did not do much but TRY to rest outside in the fresh air. This was a VERY BAD experience for the first time to Cancun. Two weeks later we are still not feeling 100% . :-(

My wife and I visited Cancun for the first time and absolutely fell in love with the people at the InterContinental. From the time we walked in everyone treated us like royalty. We were greeted with smiles and kindness. The staff met every request we had and did not hestitate to make sure we were teneded to even if we did not need anything. During our walks on the beach we realized the InterContinental has by far the cleanest and best relaxing places in and out of the sun over any hotel on the strip. The exterior places were always kept very clean. The pools we very nice. The outdoor bar was relaxing and gave you a good view of the beach. I cannot say enough on how nice the hotel and the people are. I dare anyone to visit other hotels and find a better beach, hotel grounds and service.

The hotel was clean, not crowded with tourists. Very over priced, This hotel is obviously suited for conventions for Mexican business people. Very clean, service good, Good location. Loved the beach. Food was good but way more than we wanted. Wish they had an all inclusive deal and I might go back. Beds were pretty good.
